5 am and we are loaded, truck and 5x8 trailer packed full. Headed to st George Utah today then to see family in Vegas for the New Years.
 
Nice.. yeah I can imagine not wanting to take a trailer through the gorge.
Btw I'm a silent admirer of your build thread. Glad to see updates, especially so close to home, well what used to be home

Yeah well the gorge is nothing compared to Denver today. I'm not excited about that.

So for anyone following my driving updates we are in Salina, Kansas still trucking ahead west on I-70. The sun is coming up and it's 20 deg outside.
Truck is set up with ECT on, O/D off, 70 mph at 3,300 rpm and avg the past 145 miles 10MPG. the truck And trailer pull very well. Much easier than I thought it would. (65 mph is golden, 70 is about max for the set up)

The super flex coils are sagging quite a bit but that's expected with about 250lbs on the trailer and the back seats folded down and loaded with about 500 lbs. I would say it's only down 2 inches. But that's pretty good in my book.
I also have rear spring air lift but it's not installed. Maybe I'll do that before I move again.

Blah. I just made that drive except in reverse about 5 days ago. Denver to Salina but then I went south on 135. Its not the most interesting part of the country thats for sure.

Indeed it is not! Well your from Denver and I hate the mountains, trailer, traffic. But the rig is doing good at 70 mph

Luckly I live in Fort Collins so I dont get AS bad of traffic. 70 seems to be where my rig likes to sit as well, if I could stomach the drop to 65 I'd probably get better mileage but come on. :lookout:

Holy smokes I totally missed that you got a bumper. That thing is awesome. I love big stingers. You have to make any big modifications to the rails/bumper to make it fit?

Yeah seriously!
So everyone look at page 8 Click here on the "help I'm stuck" thread in generals tab. We had caravan jeep troubles.
So instead of shooting for at George we are going to stop a few hours b4 at my place.

Anywho.
Thanks, yeah I love the bumper. I put a few extra lights on it. Looks good.
No the only cutting I had to really do was a small 1x4 slit to make some ac hose to fit and not rub a hole on the metal. It's on the front in front of the condenser.
Other than that just cutting off the bumper end caps on the frame. Easy.

so what are you guys doing to keep the aluminum shock housing from becoming corroded / rusted springs?

DUDE! dope @55 build. reading your build is feeling the pain and struggle everyone goes through when installing parts that just don't want to go in..

for the rust i have the same problem. i think the best answer is preventative maintenance. what i mean by that is cleaning them! which is a pain. at this point, it looks like you might have to take them off to refurbish them like when you first got them,. awesome build dude

Thanks boss! It's always great to see someone new comment on my thread. Yeah I think I'll have to take it all apart and clear coat them. Hope it will work but I will have to wait till spring.
 
I dont think clearing them would help, look into a product called Corrosion X, its kinda expensive but undeniably works. Clear coat would flake and chip, not to mention be removed by the adjustment collar.
