So 10:30 me and a buddy jump in our trucks. His is a 97 Chevy Silverado 8" lift 37" mud tires. To go rescue them.
10:30 pm that is. They had been there since 5 b
It's a 50 min drive out to the hills where they are at so we get there about 11:30.
It's muddy!!! Real muddy. Instead of them turning around. They decided to go down a hill. About 1/2 a mile down a muddy hill. Before both the Tacoma and Subaru got stuck.
So we get there and park at the top of the hill and walk/ slide down to them a couple hundred feet down this mountain side in the trees.
As we concur it's going to be a long night we walk back to the top and decide my truck has the winch so I'll drive down to try and recover the Tacoma. The Subaru is ****ed!
(after they dug for a while the next day)
This picture was taken today. More about that later
So I drive down and there are a couple sections where I push on the brakes and I slide 1-2 feet. Forwards and sometimes sideways towards the small ditch.
At one point there is a 5 foot ledge on my right and I'm sliding towards it more than I'm going forward down the hill. The guys try to push my away but it's no use and my front right tire is on the ledge.
We decide to hook my winch up to a tree 10 feet away to the left and drag my front end to the left away from the ledge.
I make it past that obstacle and go down towards the stuck Tacoma. He was off the road in a ditch not going anywhere.
Look close you can see my winch line going between the guys ankles. The passenger Tacoma headlight shining past. He was about 50 ft away. It was so slick that if I just pulled I would be pulled in. So I rammed my bumper into the tree there to prevent me from sliding.
We get the Tacoma out of the ditch. It's now about 12:30. An hour into the adventure. Now we have to climb up the muddy hill. So my truck is locked and in low 4wd with the tires deflated to 15 psi for traction. I can drive around much bette than the Tacoma because he has street tires.
It then takes another hour to get the Tacoma up 200 yards up the trail where my buddy's Silverado it parked. With that we take turns I lead, then we basically push the Tacoma up the muddy hill. Then I go and we push him again. It gets to a point where we can no longer push him up the hill and he gets stuck again. So we strap up trucks mine to his and I pull him up the hill.
From there we then drive out I tile we get back on hard dirt roads. Then an hour drive home.
I got home at 2:30 am. And I have a 7:45 class.
That's my last night story
Then today they went back for the Subaru. Which was further down the hill. They managed to get it turned around and 20 feet up the hill.
Another couple hundred to go.
And that took them 3 hours. They are going back tomorrow.
That's where they took a daytime picture of the car
