Should a new T4R come with the MicroSD Card?

Just purchased a new 2019 TRD OR. Tried doing a few searches and haven't come up with anything.

Should a new vehicle come with the MicroSD card or is this an extra you have to pay for?

Do most people use the Toyota nav or is there an alternative that wont cost me $500+?

Didn't even realize the card was a thing until I got the vehicle. Only part I found on Toyotas website was $650 which is absurd. Some older threads said you had to pay for map updates and some newer threads say you can do it on your own at home.

Seems like an absolute rip off to be charging for cards and map updates on $40k vehicles.

Well, people have personal preference as to what SD card they may want (quality/size/manufacturer). So not sure the issue there, micro SD cards can be purchased cheap.

As for the Nav as roads are added/changed it will need to be updated and they may be a charge for this new data like most manufacturers do. But do as most do use Google maps or Waze, its far better anyway and free.

My 19 TRD ORP came with the card already in the slot.

If the truck was brand new and you have the Entune premium package then yes it should already have a map card from factory.

Yes, the truck should come with the nav card. In 2020 I think Toyota switched from a card to a data/wifi update so there is not a SD card in the 2020's

You can get the card for less from a parts wholesaler ($130 ish) or ebay ($60ish). The latest nav SD card came out in November 2019. I don't have the part number sorry.

Id guess someone swiped the 2019 SD card to put in their older 4runner.

If you have no map nav card, then the dealer needs to get you one.

Contact your dealer or sales person that sold you the truck. Tell them the SD card is not in the slot.

Called back and they are sending me one in the mail. Wanted to confirm that it should have been included in case they tried to pull anything shady and charge me for it. Don't trust dealerships enough.
