should i buy it? 87 SFA T4R

im going to look at it after work. its an 87 4runner 4cyl, header, mild cam new clutch.
5:13?(they are 5-somthing ratio cant remember) gears. with a rear locker

the sfa is a pro-comp kit that swapped in an 85 toy front axle, i didnt know pro comp did sfa kits. it has crossover steering and 35" swampers.

my plan is to daily drive this truck to work on days when i cant take the motorcycle 35 miles one way...70 total. could a truck like this handle the commute? i would probably keep the swampers for weekend use and get some 33" all terrains for commute. how reliable are these 87's with an SFA? should i step away now or give it a chance. i really want the older style though because of the removable top and they are hard to find in my neck of the woods unless they are all rotted. he says this one has no rust on frame and a little on the body...i could care less about the body damage just as long as i can get an inspection sticker.

it was weeping gear oil from both knuckles in the front and dripping on the tires... what is that bad axle seal?

Since you want it for on road, have it inspected before considering it. It's likely the SFA conversion will not pass safety inspection. Same for the header and emissions inspection.

Get a small hammer and check the frame, don't believe him. Don't go by looks, Toy frames rust from inside out, so when you can see it it's bad. Check especially where the frame turns up from the horizontal, above the rear wheels, and where the tank sits against the frame.

If it has 5.something gears, they're 5.29. Right gears for 35-36" tires, too low for 33's.

he wants 2500 for it. i think im going to just buy a 90's ext cab pickup 4cyl 4wd they are alot easier to find than the older 4runners. i just cant find them anywhere
