Should I buy this 1990 4Runner?

I have never owned a Toyota but know lots of peopel who love them. I just want to pick up a cheap second vehicle for the days when riding my motorcycle is not ideal (rain and all winter). Plus I can throw my dog in the back lol and haul a trailer. I don't really need the 4x4, but it's nice to know it's there. It's just to commute, like a 10min ride each way, so I'm not too worried about the gas mielage (how is that BTW?).

so...this 2nd gen 4runner is a 1990. It will need tires (do the cheapie walmart ones work ok? lol), are they really pricey for this? What's the proper size so I can price some?

The motor (v6)...it has about 240,000 miles. Recently the timing belt went, and the old owner thought it was toast. The new seller fixed (something) and it works now. Should I avoid this and look for another one? How long will these motors generally last? And will the broken belt/chain cause big damage? The mielage is high, but since I'm not spending much and I wonl;t drive it too much, I'm not toooo bothered ny it, but a little wary.

I drove it, and to me it didn;t seem too peppy. I know it's old, but are they pretty lethargic accelration wise? Or is this a sign that something is bad in it. What kind if times should it do 0-60 so I can see if everythign is in order? I wouldn't drive it like that other than to test it.

The body has a few rought rust spots, nothing tooo bad.

Apparently it needs a ball joint, I was told that's like $40us or soemthing... that seems cheap to me. Is that a pricey part & install? The rear wiper doesn't work either.

It seems pretty rough riding too, but I attribute that to the almost bald huge mud tires on it.

I don't want to buy a money trap, but I don't mind sinking some money into it if it still has a few good years left in it. The brakes didn't seem to great either, is that a big bill on these rigs, or just average? Thanks, sorry for the long post, I just want some opiniopns from people who own these 2ng gen rigs.
What would you guys pay for this beast?

The interior is good, body is good for it's age.

if its cheap id buy it

ive ran a few toyotas into the ground... never had one die under 320k miles... best cars on the road IMO

and yes, the 3.0 v6 is slow as a turd

no, the cheapy wal mart tires wont do for any toyota. That is a disgrace. Put a nice set of 31X10.50 BFG AT's on it, provided it doesnt have a lift.
