saw it on craigslist, already talked to the guy a few times

1999 4runner limited 4X4. 225K miles, 2nd owner, maintained well, due for timing belt and registered out of state other then at it sounds great, he says excellent condition, only asking $5,600 OBO. Heres the catch, i already have a 99 limited 4X4. 207K miles, except mine was owned by a girl before who did not take care of it, and it has dents. im located in soCal, you guys think if i can snag that for 5,000 i could still sell mind for 5,000? input?

hmmmm well if its been posted on craigslist a few times and no one has bought it yet and its better than yours, you might lose a little money trying to sell yours, or you'd have to wait longer until someone gains interest. thats what i think..

These types of posts are so hard to give opinions on as we are going on just a few facts. Hard to tell what something is worth without seeing it. Where is the potential buy from?

San diego, I just like how its been maintained better, the girl who owned mine before thrashed it around, i bought my 4runner not even running because the rear end went out and i fixed it up cheap, so im not sure if my 4runner will last a while, i was planning on putting $2,000 more into mine making it look and run nicer

Isn't it a HUGE pain to get something registered in Cali...? Maybe it doesn't pass emissions? Why isn't it registered?

to get it registered in cali, after taxes registation and all will be like 400 i already checked, and he smogged it yesterday. he says hes firm on 5500, also needs 600 dollar timing belt, so ill be in it 6500 after everything for a 99 limited 4X4 maintained well, garaged, very clean, sound like a decent deal or worth waiting for another?

Sounds like a lot for a 99 with 225k even in good condition, but then again, vehicles seem to bring a premium in CA.

does it have a diff lock? does yours have a diff lock. I would buy it if it does. Then i would go through the 2 4runners, switch out all the perfect parts on to the runner you keep and all the flawed parts on to the one you sell.

If it has no diff lock, i don't think it would be worth the aggravation and cost of registration.

If i sell mine for lets say 4500, but i want to put 2500 into it making it niceer (7,000). Or buy the other for 5500 and put 1500 with taxes and timing belt so (7000) for better maintained, i think im gonna try and grab it tomorrow if i can
