It looks like it is in good shape besides what looks like a scrape on the passenger side of the rear bumper. I can't really make it out, but it also looks like there is a sticker on the timing cover like the timing belt and water pump are already done too. If it has been well maintained then that doesn't seem like that bad of a price for it. I would definitely try and talk them down though, just because no one pays sticker for anything lol :bigok:
 
I plugged the specs into KBB.com and they came back with $14,600 in excellent condition. Edmunds came back with a dealer retail of $13,400
 
When I purchased my 4runner, the dealorship didn't even go by the kbb, they went by the black book. I think it is a wholesale book, but I haven't done any research on it.
 
What dealers ask and what they get are two different things. This unit should actually sell for no more than 12 absolute tops.

The "books," especially now relative to SUVs, are pretty much irrelevant.
 
I wouldn't even pay that here in Utah, and our 4x4 SUV prices are high compared to the national average, especially the East Coast. I don't care what KBB, NADA, etc. have to say. Those are just suggestions and guidelines--nothing that guarantees a selling price. With the economy in the situation it's in now, and the gas prices still at $3/gallon, SUV's and gas guzzlers are not popular right now, which can be noted in the auto auctions, ebay, autotrader, etc. Those are the true gauges to price your vehicle.

Anyway, I agree with the $12k mark.
 
look like its in good condition..drive it around find out as much as possible about the previous owners..do a history report and if you like it buy it talk the dealer down u can always do that
 
Prices vary by region . A dealer here would ask and get more than that amount for that one ( with a clean Carfax report). I was scanning the local papers and Buy N Sell here just to FIND one period . 4R owners up here dont seem to like to part with thier babies very often . Every time I found a good one it was like " ya the first person who called bought it " :(

its not a bad price, but i guess i just dont accept anything but unbelieveble prices...i NEVER pay even CLOSE to blue book lol

Can you tell me what that sticker looks like? I am going to go take a look at it today and I definately want to look for that sticker. Does the sticker list the name of the shop that did the timing belt/water pump?

It won't show who did it but it is a small silver sticker that states it was replaced and has the mileage written in. In this pic:

It's hard to tell, but it looks like the sticker is on the timing cover below the "24" on the engine sticker.

EDIT - Another way to tell if it was serviced at Toyota dealer or at least used Toyota parts is look at the coolant. Genuine Toyota Coolant is red, not green.

I'm 99% sure that that sticker is on all 4Runners. Some sort of warning or instruction sticker. If the timing belt was done, I believe they usually put it just to the right of the sticker CheaterGas mentioned.

I'll have to go look under the hood of my 4Runner and see where my sticker is then. i know I have one of those timing belt stickers.

EDIT: Yeah you are right. That sticker is a warning sticker for the spark plugs. My timing belt sticker is on the other side of the timing cover.

Well, I went to test drive the Runner tonight, and gladly left it there on the lot. It drove nice, no issues there. The problem was the issues with the vehicle, the advertising of the vehicle, the trade allowance for my trade in and the price of the Runner.

For a car that has been sitting on their lot for 4mos, you think they would be a little more flexible in the price. The "best" price they could give me on it was $13K. The in dash clock did not work, the power antenna did not retract, floor mats were missing and the cargo cover was missing, even though it was advertised in the online ad as having a cover.

Oh well, back to the drawing board. :)
