should i paint my flares? help/input needed

hey guys im new to the community and have been thinkig about painting my limited flares.

i wish i could take them off without having holes but since that is not so i am thinking about painting them black. input on this idea?
flat or gloss

my reasoning is that the oem trim color on these is scracthed and scraped past buffing repair.

If you hit the trails fequently then go with something with a nice sheen or semi gloss since that will hide scratches better and then paint to match your plastic on the front and you'll be good. I recently did my valence since it was getting pretty faded and did the flares last year so it needed a match bad.

what paint is that, that you used
i like the way that looks. and you made up my mind on the clear corners.

sadly i havent had the chance to hit the trails yet. i've onlu had her about a month now

Personal opinion, especially if you don't wheel a lot, paint them body color. I think that thing would look bad ass all red.

i plan on lifting it and going wheeling. plus im trying to stay low cost which is why im not repainting them the oem trim color

Then go black. Would look good for sure.

The paint I used was Duplicolor trim paint which was a perfect mix between a deep black with just enough sheen on it to not look flat.

I do recommend using a prep spray to really clean any unpainted plastic you paint along with a couple coats of adhesion promotor before you lay down several coats of the trim paint. I didn't clear coat the plastic since if it is scuffed it's easier to respray with no clear coat on it.

Those are not limited flares. Limited flares have the cladding that is part of them and runs down the doors.
They do resemble the 2000-2002 sport flares but with chrome bumpers and no hood scoop, the rig is not a sport. The Bushwackers look a lot like the sport flares (like yours).

If they are the Bushwackers, I believe that they have a few screws along the wheel opening and use adhesive tape along the fender. I doubt that someone cut square holes in the fenders to mount sport flares.

I would agree, I dont like the silver with the red. If you do paint, take your time to tape properly and do it right, don't rush. I think black would look good with the red. There are a lot of red rigs here that have done black on them. One that comes to mind is "footofgod". Search for his build thread.

They're factory flares. They were an option on the SR5's.

Beautiful rig. I won't lie. I wanted a Red 4R, but the only one I could find had an accident on the CarFax. I love how the bug-shield is clearly visible against a red truck. On my black 4R, it just blends in.

I've always hated how Toyota never painted that B-pillar.

taped them. i wish i could have taken them off but i am aweful at un clipping those tabs and new i would have created a night mare. i have a little over spray on the rig but that didnt bother me since i work i run a detail shop
