Should I repaint my rear spoiler/wind deflector?

I've searched and have found that several people have done this. I know how to do it and what to use...if I do it. I'm refinishing my roof rack this weekend and was just gonna go ahead and do the metal spoiler because it is oxidized and, HEY, why not? It's not scratched or anything like that. I'm just anal and wanted the 2 to match. So, should I do it? Anyone else who has done this, has your job held up? The last thing I want is for this to start peeling in the next year or so. Mind you I live in N. Carolina and my T4R is not garage kept.

I did the roof rack and the spoiler at the same time. I used satin black and it turned out well. I just scuffed the existing paint with #000 steel wool and then hit it with the paint directly, but mine wasn't oxidized that bad. Go for it!

I also painted my tow hitch with gloss black and that turned out awesome too.

Yah, I came across your posting and saw that you did it. So, you used steel wool and no sand paper? What about a primer?
 
If you are going to be painting trim pieces I would suggest you spend a little extra dough and get some SEM products trim paint. A lot of people have used it with great success and it seams to be a lot more durable than your standard rattle can stuff.

I painted my rack and deflector a while ago with plasti-dip and a few layers of clear coat. It held up alright for a little while but last time I waxed my truck I taped off the trim pieces with painters tape and it peeled some of the plasti-dip off the rack.

So far I have tackled my rack, deflector, hitch, rear bumper trim, mudflaps, wiper arms and cowl with the SEM stuff and they look brand new. The finish is great, not too shiny or dull. I'll try and get some pictures later today.

Plus they make the stuff right in Rock Hill SC.

I take it I can't walk into Lowe's or Home Depot in Charlotte or Rock Hill and pick a can up? How much $$$ for a can are we talking here?
 
I believe it was like $12 for a 15oz can, I ordered mine online from somewhere in california (this was before I realized they made it right up the road). I bet there is somewhere you could find it in those to cities being that it is so close to the company, heck you may be able to go grab it from the hqs.
 
You should be able to pick up the SEM stuff at an Auto Paint supplier.
