I work in the Bay Area every couple of months, but I live in NC. My advice, MOVE.
Gas is over $4 a gallon in many places. California is never going to be "more free." The coastal cities simply have too much power over the conservative interior.
I would seriously consider a RAV.....IF....Toyota hadn't discontinued the V6.

Tesla owners brag about their cheap charging (fuel up costs), but ask them about their depreciation cost. If they lease, it's imbedded in the lease payment. If they own, it's considerable. Then if you ever have repair issues, Tesla shop rates are $280/hr and their manufacturing quality is questionable.
I'm sure the EVs work fine in the city. On trips outside the city, you are a slave to their network of supercharging stations. You can watch Tesla owners sipping lattes, doing their nails and discussing and comparing their charging bills to a ICE car while they wait.

Did your friend with the Tesla happen to mention how much his electric bill increased charging that thing nightly? That’s the part people forget about.

I'm not sure any of you are actually reading the entire post/thread. I am NOT considering a Tesla. Main reason I have owned 2 4runners over the last 15 years, and still currently own both 4runners, is the reliability paired with value retention, and utility of the vehicles. I'm considering the rav4 hybrid which is still in the Toyota family. You guys can keep bashing Tesla for all I care, but it isn't really relevant to the topic at hand.

Sounds like you have already made up your mind.
Sell the 4R and get the R4 and be done with it already.

Im kinda in the opposite, I keep thinking of going from my '14 SR5P to a Tundra. No my wife drives a new Tundra with a 3/1 lift etc..... and I had my mildly modded Runner but I like the room in the Tundra. Went from a Tacoma to the 4Runner. And I know the thinking, have her drive the 4Runner but NO. she picked her truck and mods when she was looking at vehicles. I have 2 Harleys, hunt shoot and what ever and I wouldn't ask her to give up her ride. I see Tundra's and 4Runners in abundance around here just leary of the cam tower leaks. My Runner is modded to what I wanted and 100% reliable. Probably stupid for even thinking of a change.
