Should I take my brushguard off?

I have been thinking lately, that my 4Runner would look a lot cleaner without the brushguard on it, so I figured I'd get everybody's opinions on here before I make a decision. If I decide to take it off I'll put it up for sale along with the Hella 500's and the Skid Plate.

its cleaner with it off. thats prolly why i havent put mine back on. maybe a light bar for them lights when you take the bar off.
 
Much cleaner without the brush guard. I think if you do take it off, something needs to be done about the grill. Perhaps paint it black? I like the all-black look. Maybe even a blacked or smoked housing in the headlights, too. Keep that little chin spoiler, though. Maybe even paint that black. Of course, graphite emblems, too. That would look pretty good.
 
IMHO, the brush guard doesn't go very well with the street look - very nice truck btw! So to me, taking it off really makes it look better - thanks to the photos you provided :) The skid plate on the other hand, i wouldn't mind leaving it on. The showing part is small and tidy and sorts of accentuates the look of your vehicle because of other chrome and aluminum stuff you have on it.

I would love to black out my 4Runner, but I'm not sure if I have the money do to that at the moment. I will definitely consider that in the future.

I will be getting a brand new skid plate, because I had to bend that one to make it fit on there with the brush guard.

I like the cleaner look and I think your truck (as immaculate as you always keep it, Fo_Sheezy) would benefit from the stream lining. Keeping the plate gives a bit of contrast too so the whole front end is not lost in all black. As far as the grill, I think you should leave it as is. If you blacked it out, it would get lost and people would not readily see it and admire it for what it is. Just place something to hide the front mounting holes on the bumper. Whatever makes you happy though, either way, I truly admire the work you put in in keeping it looking good (especially the black paint). Kudos to you for maintaining the paint. :bigok:
 
i like brush guards but on your truck i would remove it. either way your truck looks good.

but if i was you i would get a tag for the front, maybe a chrome toyota one? would help add something to the bumper if you know what im sayin?
 
It looks better without the brushguard. If you take it off, your screen name will not be Fo_SheeZy anymore.

it kinda doesn't go with the street look...

but Brian, i wanna be first on the list for that thing if it comes off your Runner!
 
It would only fit a 99-02 4Runner, yours looks like a 98..? You see on the 99-02 the front bumper sticks out which makes the brush guard curved.

nah, mine's a '96, but same body style, anyways.
and yeah, i knew the bumper was different, but i didnt think it would affect the fit...
 
Definitely no Brush guard. Too trucky for me. I do like the skid plate though. I would keep the blingage on the truck. I think you have enough black on the truck. The chrome accentuates the truck IMO.

You just need to buy some quality spray paint (not the Pepboys/Autozone crap. Get a paint shop to match your paint and put it in a spray can for you. Shouldn't be too expensive). Murder it out, Son! Do Work!
 
Off. Much cleaner. Plus, with it on, you can't see the billet grill. The brush guard does make the truck look tougher though. Keep the decorative skid plate.

Also, since no other '99-'02 owners have said this yet, I'm first in line if you decide to sell it! :D

There is a reason for that. If you do any off-roading, these brush guards could potentially cause more damage. If you happen to hit something with the brush guard, it will bend up toward the lights, grill and the hood, which will break or scratch them up. Plus, the ground clearance is decreased with them.

Spend the cash for an ARB or TJM unit.
 
I know that. But I'm still first in line... :p

ps - I'm not sure it reduces ground clearance so much as it reduces approach angle.
