Should I commit the ultimate sin and make a trade for a 1994 jeep wrangler with 95k on it. Heres the link:

I got a 2000 Limited with e lockers - 230k miles. Basically new RTT on top, just installed 906 coils in the rear to fix sag, no issues and runs great.

I am going to end up getting a new tacoma or something new in a year or two anyways and always wanted a little Jeep. Wanted to get peoples opinions on price and if im just getting bored during quarantine. Not sure on how much extra I should offer. Thanks!

You can ask the guy to swap rides for like a weekend if possible and then decide. It will defiantly clearup any doubts for both of you.

It doesnt look like he wants the tent now. But if mines around 4500 and a tent gets me to around 5500, his starting price is 9500 - which is a lot but i dont think i can get it down enough to do a straight trade

If you don't mind having it floored every time you need to accelerate, then you should be OK in that regard.

After having a look at various price estimators online, $5500 is as high as I'd go....BUT THEN add the cost of the lift (since appraisals online don't have the option).

And I'd be driving it a bunch first.

Personally the 3rd Gen 4runner is 2x the vehicle the Jeep will ever be without crazy mods. You can tackle tons of trails, and do it in comfort. I would never trade a Toyota with known service history for a Jeep with Unknown service history.

I had a 92 Wrangler before getting my 4runner, and will never go back. The Dana 30 rear axle is garbage, and it you plan on wheeling it you'll want that gone! Easy swap is a Ford 8.8, and find a HP Dana 35 for the front. The throwout bearing on the manual clutch also likes to take a dump pretty frequently. The one you're looking at is a 4 cylinder, and that's going to be under powered unless you plan on keeping it stock.

That being said I do miss a Jeep at times, but not a YJ.

You should only trade him straight up or no deal. Jeep's can't even do what stock limited 99-00 with locker can do with a lift and 33s. Not a good way to solve your quarantine boredom downgrading to a Jeep and not being able to wheel in comfort without a couple grand in modifications. Stick with your yota. Get some new tires or something if you're bored. It'll spice it up a bit.

Are you smoking some bad weed? Lol I used to have 91 and 94 wrangler. Both at the time were decent vehicles but they also had a 6 cylinder motor. Then they had issues and the repair bills would have been enormous if not for the warranties. Your runner is a much better vehicle than that Jeep offroad and you would have spend alot to make the Jeep match the reliability and the performance of your runner right now. Jeeps are money pits and even after tons of money they still will not ride like your runner on the hwy. It will be an expensive lesson if you go that route.

I would not trade if I were you, that jeep is fairly useless unless all you do is offroad. That being said, the 4runner still outperforms a jeep in a lot of cases.

Not advocating getting the Wrangler BTW, just pointing out the experience driving the 2.5. Get the inline 6 if you get an older Wrangler.

And your 4Runner beats the snot out of it 99.9% of the time anyway.

Unless you plan on trailering it, the 4 banger would need 2 ECT buttons on mountain highways. A girlfriend had one and I never felt right driving it.

I'll try not to sound too callous, but that Jeep owner is getting the better end of the bargain.
Looks horrible with the mismatched painted doors and random diamond plated trim. All of that aside, the fact that it is a 4-cylinder alone would discourage me from even considering this deal. They are lethargic and not anywhere near as reliable as the inline 6.

I am not sure why you are not happy with the 4Runner, but it is leaps and bounds better than the Jeep. In either case, if you do decide to go through with this egregious deal, do not offer anything on top.

Hey I once was thinking bout selling my 3rd gen and buying a 2016 Jeep Rubicon. Then 1 day my buddy told me how many issues he had with his and when I checked consumer reports and other publications I found that Fiat had actually made the Jeep a worst product than when I used to owned them back in late 90 early 2000. I decided to buy a can am x3 max for offroading Jeeps just don't hold up too well then and definitely not now.
