Should I trust this?

I just got OEM fog lights from TheAbbott(Thanks again man!) and now I need an OEM switch. Should I trust this one on ebay or just bite the bullet and go to the stealership? None of the junk yards around here have ANY 4runners, much less 3rd gens with fogs! I ask this question because this one is about $100 less than all of the others.
WELLS SW2796 Switch, Turn Signal | eBay
Any input is welcome. Thanks!

You'd rather use one of those than just a simple switch?

You can get a factory switch from the dealership for ~$15 and it would probably be easier to wire. You could also control them whenever you wanted.

Hell yeah, I would use that. Your truck is already wired for fog lights. All you need is the fog light relay, a fuse and that switch. Plug and play.

This is what the dealer does when you have dealer installed fog lights.

With mine being pre wired I think it would just be easier to do as singtoe said. Rather than just by pass all of the OEM wiring.
I do like the idea of using them when I like though...

The is a fog light mod you can do. It takes two minutes and you can turn the fog lights on anytime you want.

So that switch should just plug in where mine currently is, no jerry rigging or anything? Best place for the relay?

I replaced that stalk on my 02 (left turn signal contacts were getting sketchy), and it was only $75 from the stealership, IIRC...I'd get ahold of the dealership before going on ebay for a non-toyota part.

Really? Only $75? I would rather have Toyota but I figured they would want $300-$400 for it. I'll check that out tomorrow.

Anyone else notice that the only ones replying are from the Carolinas?

Yep. No jerry rigging. As for the relay, Go to a junk yard and pick one up or if you send me $5, I'll send you one already modded (so you can turn the fog lights on anytime) up and ready to plug in.

It's cheaper because there are about 20 different toyota's and lexus's that share that same stalk.

Clearly, the Carolina's are where it's at with T4R's...

I met Eric (Coinball) the other day and he seams quite knowledgeable in the 4runner. He has upgraded his 4runner with all the JDM stuff which really makes his ride a bit different (in a good way) then all the others I have seen.

Do look forward in having a group ride one day...

The switch is 66 dollars from toyotapartszone.com.

Could one of these be retrofitted into a 97 or would I need to splice in the wiring harness out of a junked 4runner?

On the older models, you need to find out if you are pre wired for fog lights. I had a 96 and it wasn't.

Look under the front bumper and see if you have any loose wire connectors that fog light might have plugged into. There should be 2 sets - one on each side. If there aren't any, then your truck is not prewired for it.

Mind you, the stalk will fit but you will need to add a pin(terminal) and a wire to use the switch with your wire harness. It is an easy mod to do too. and then run that wire to a relay and then to your lights.

I love the JDM look. I just don't have the cash to put up to get the parts.

A group ride would be a blast.
