Should MillerPKA sell or keep his 4Runner?

Haha wow, quite the surprise here. Completely hung over and I log on to see this, its a great feeling. All I can say is thank you, seriously, from the bottom of my heart. Some people aren't as involved (read: obsessed) as others here and I will gladly be the front man for those completely into their 4Runner. Lots of you have been there since day one and though I don't know all of you personally its almost like we did it together as odd as that sounds. I love getting feedback and opinions on the things I've done and its really been a collaborative effort in some sense to get it where it is today. I'm just proud that it was my blood sweat and tears, literally all 3, that made this happen and that's where most of the pride comes from.

With the repairs and preventive maintenance I keep doing its harder for me to contemplate selling it. I still absolutely love driving the truck every time I turn it on I'm happy. Being in a new city is refreshing and no exaggerations I get some form of compliment nearly every time I get out of it, from simple questions and saying that's gnarly to people asking to take pictures in front of it and telling me its the nicest SUV they've ever seen. By far though this thread is one of the most meaningful things that's ever been done in terms of me and that truck and I truly appreciate all of the kind words you have been nice enough to share. If I wasn't so hung over I might have gotten emotional, seriously. I'm taking it a day at a time right now but this truck will not survive in the long run with the work I'm putting it through, trying to find the best way to hang onto it and get into another SUV. Thank you so much, and by all means feel free to continue this whole catering to my ego thing, I can honestly say its one of the nicest things that's been done for me.

Miller, I understand the need for another DD when you have a rig like yours. Mine isnt even close yet, but I still get it. with the new job etc. why dont you start saving and get a change of pace car? My plan is to have the 4runner on weekend/snow/winter duty in 2 years and have a 2001 Prelude SH to cruise in on other days. at least putting a goal out there definitely helps me anyways.
 
I understand that needs change and its time to move onto another rig, BUT really think it through first.

I had a Cherokee that I put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into and decided that since none of my bud's wheeled anymore it was time to go. It was a one of a kind Larado pkg with manual windows and locks, no ABS, and a 5spd. It was set with 5" of lift, 33" BFG's, limited slip, rack, and on and on...

I still miss it and that was 3 years ago. I like the runner, but it wont flex like the Jeep used to. It was a machine!

When my buddy sold his 88 4Runner to build something else, he didn't realize how much he would miss that beast.
It was named the Trail Slut. No matter how bad he beat on it, it would ask for more :) I don't even have a pic. of the complete build, but you get the idea...

Anyway, you will miss your truck once you sell it.

I can keep my eye out for another 4runner for you if you need a daily driver. We have lots of rust free runners down here in Florida.
Hop an Airtran flight and drive it home. :roadkill:

That looks like it would be a huge loss if sold! I don't think I could ever sell something like that after all the work that went into it. I would probably whore out my wife first :biggrin2:
 
Think of the other side. All the blood, sweat and tears, what is left to do?

Maybe you are better off moving onto your next project. If you have to sell it would be a shame of course but think of what you might be able to make in the future. I am not one to judge, I do that all the time with my motorcycles, 5 in 2 years. You buy and build and buy and build. She's 10+ years old and won't run forever. Yes it's a Yota and it will outrun pretty much everything on the road but your next project will turn out twice as good!

Your balls have dropped (I hope) and you are a man. Make your own decisions. You know what you need to do. Just remember two things; Take a lot of picures before she goes and know you built a rig that most of us would cheat on our girlfriends for.

The Trail Slut was a sweet rig...he sold it to some kid in Louisiana...it's a mall crawler now :(
