Shrockwork rock slider suggestion

There is a group buy right now in case anyone is looking. I'm torn between

1 rock sliders which have angled bars and come up higher with minimal stick out

2 their dimpled step ones which come straight out and have a step

The car is purely a fun car. We have a seperate family car but I do plan to take my 3 year old with me soon.

I'm on the side on simple sliders as they don't stick out and still provide a small step. I heard if it sticks out too much like running boards when you exit or enter they will hit your leg. This now forces you to use the step

I'm going with dimpled tread plate as my wife needs a step and I think it doesn't stick out too far out. Checkout the pics on this forum.

Mine don't stick out far enough

I have the upward angled version, and don't have as much protection from parking lot dings as I had hoped. And I really have suffered more damage in parking lots than any trail.

I know nothing about shrockwork sliders other than what I've gleaned from this website and theirs, but I've never hit my leg on my stock running boards. I know whatever sliders I get I want them to serve as a step for my wife and others and also makes dealing with the roof rack easier.

You can still use the shrockwork sliders as a step but they aren't as flat of a surface.

I have both sliders - step outs on the 5th gen, standard on the 4th. Both protect the rocker but the step outs will protect the door a little better. The standards have a sleek look and they blend in much better and give you a higher looking stance IMO. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I have the simple sliders that I picked up locally.
I like how they look and work, but they're hardly useful as steps. I used some 3M tread tape to help prevent slipping.

I've had the "regular" sliders since the first 5th gen group buy. I step on them for tying down cargo, kayaks, and to wash. have to be careful not to fall off them but they work fine Even with them not sticking out so far, I do have to pay attention to not get my pants all dirty, especially in winter with the slush and salt. Really only a concern when I have to dress nicely, something I try to avoid.

I've got the original angled sliders. Many times I've heard "your steps suck", to which I have to remind people they are not steps. No issues at all on the performance of the angles sliders, but there have been times when I wished they were bump-outs.

Since you have young children I would lean towards the flat sliders since they do work better as steps. Shrockworks makes good stuff and you can't go wrong with either one.

can you step on the angled ones with the door closed or is there not enough room.

i thought i was gonna do the angled but now more aiming for the step out

the c4 are nice but what it seems is that since it is angled out high, its not much of a step and more of a ledge.

They'll probably both get your pant leg dirty while you're getting used to them.

Mine are like the narrower version. I mostly use the rear tire to stand on - although I'm 6'2" so I can pretty much just reach the roof from the ground anyway. They do not make good steps. They do keep my doors pretty though - many rocks have had a go at them. So far the doors are clean. I would consider doing a bump out next time as it would have saved my rear fender flares in one instance where I just couldn't avoid kissing the rock on the back corner not matter what I did. I think a slight bump would have helped. The wider step style would probably have helped too.

I don't think they do as they weigh only 45 lbs. per side.
