Shrockworks Bumper Fit

I've had my Shrockworks bumper sittin in the driveway for several months and got around to putting it on this last weekend. Its gone ok so far other than the fact that I have between 1/8-1/4 of an inch of clearance between the bumper and the fender below the headlights. I keep seeing in other threads that ideally there should be at least 1/2 an inch of space.

There is only enough room for about 1/16 of a drop until the bumper weld hits the frame bracket on both sides. So, there is no more clearance available unless I take the entire bumper off and start cutting the frame bracket and drilling out some of the bolt holes more.

I drove the driver's side of the 4runner up on a 6" ramp and the gap closed up to less then 1/32 of an inch on that side. I imagine that if I take it off-road my fender and headlights are just going to get beat up pretty bad. So much for an off-road bumper.

Anybody have any of these issues and if so what did you do about it?

Could they have sent me the wrong frame bracket?

Hmm... that sucks.... I've got about 1/4" on the driver's side and about 1/2" on the passenger side. We couldn't get it to budge anymore on the driver's side though, so we drilled it as is. We haven't had any problems offroad with the clearance as it currently sits, so if you can get it to at least 1/4" on both sides, I think you'd be fine.

Yeah, it is 1/4 of an inch in some spots along the fender at the most and less for most of it. I'm going to keep messing with it today and give Shrockworks a call and hopefully I can get some more clearance without having to do some cutting on the brackets.

Did you lossen ALL the bolts? The four on each frame rail and the side bolts? Once you get the gap right, then drill the two small holes down low that take the final pair of bolts and that'll keep the bumper "locked" into position. Without those two bolts, the bumper would shift a bit.

Yeah, we tried everything but the frame bracket wouldn't let the bumper come down any further.

Ended up taking the bumper off and cutting the frame bracket and bolt holes down 1/2 an inch which gave us much more play in the fit and then we re-drilled the final two bolts on each side.

Pretty solid now. Got between 1/2 and 3/4 gap between bumper and fender.
