Shrockworks said if I get 20 people interested they will build a rear bumper

Apparently they had plans to develop one but did not get around to it. I was told it was lack of interest for that generation. 20 people is alot but I figure its worth a shot to see. I was told that if I have 20 people interested they would consider moving forward with the R&D to get it completed.

I'm looking for something that offers a little better clearance, dual swing outs, tire carrier, and possibly a ladder on the other swing out that can except different attachments such as fuel can holder, bike rack, etc.

ok we have 2 people interested! lets see where it goes. I would like it to be similar to CBI but not so expensive, also would like to keep my gobi ladder and would like a tire swing out.

If they can make one that doesn't go up all the way to the taillights, I'd be interested. Seems like everything on the market looks identical in that area, I'd much rather see something like their 5th gen bumper that reuses some of the rear bumper cover.

The majority of 4th gen 4runners on this site with front bumpers are running a shrockworks and their group buys end up in the hundreds every time. How could there not be enough interest?

Define "interest". Does that mean "I've been waiting on Shrockworks to build a rear bumper and would be willing to consider purchasing one after I've seen price/features/etc" or "I'm willing to put money down so that Shrockworks can do the R&D to build a rear bumper"?

I hope this thread gets enough traction and I will forward it to Shrockworks so they can see that there is an interest. Their 5th gen bumper is very nice so I dont see why they cant do the same for 4th gen.

Well there's really no reason this entire sub wouldn't be "interested" in a rear bumper from shrockworks. But it sounds like they want 20 'buyers' before they start developing it.

They said they want 20 people that are interested in the bumper. They didnt say they had to pre order order or give a deposit. I plan to use this thread as proof that it would be worth it for them.

It's doable. Helps to cut the factory cross member to get that high clearance. The new bumper becomes the cross member. This is from Insain Fab in Denver...

That Insain Fab is probably one of the nicer/cleaner rear bumpers I've seen. I'm also a fan of the CBI rear bumper

Committed? Not until I see it. NWTI is developing a DIY kit for the rear bumper. Pending final design I would likely end up with that to have matching front/rear bumpers

I would like a light-weight design, high clearance, tire swing out (additional swingout would be a plus) and a place for flush/recessed lights. Ideally double as a tow hitch

This whole "interest" thing depends on what it looks like. In my opinion, all the aftermarket rear bumpers look terrible, that is why I had mine custom made.

THIS!! That's one reason I do not like a lot of the current rear bumpers is bc they go all the way up to the tail light and I don't like how that looks at all, keep some of the rear bumper cover please.

I'd be interested in one. I also don't like that the ones on the market right now go all the up to the tail lights, but if they do, an incorporated step or steps would be cool. Also, I want a good departure angle (some seem to stick way down right behind the wheels). Incorporated lights would almost be a necessity for me as well. The 5th gen bumper above is gorgeous and I think is a great example of what a 4th gen should look like.

I would be interested. I am very close to purchasing a custom CBI bumper.

What I want is:

- Dual swing out
- Dual scepter jerry holders
- Dual aluminum fold down camp table
- Fully upright spare wheel mount (not angled)
- two high lift mounts on left and right side of bumper

I think I have some more requirements but they are listed at home in a word document.

Be advised that there should be two versions of the 4runner bumper. One version for the 2003-2005 4runners and the other version from 2006-2009 4runner as the fender cladding is different.
