Your guy's wish list:
Low side profile
Cut off crossmember for higher clearance
Integrated reverse/corner lights
Optional add-on accessories such as jerry can holders, fold down tables, ladders, etc.
Recovery points
To keep you guys realistic, it'll be at the very least, $2000 plus shipping.
I would be worried about hitting the swing out on some rocks on Shrockwork's 5th gen bumper because of the way it hangs off the back, unprotected underneath. I know I've hit mine, but it has held up so far and I've taken my truck where it shouldn't be on occasion...
My input on the side height: I don't mind it tall as it offers more protection, especially in 4x4lab's case where they mount the side slider to keep you off trees. Maybe a side slider would be a good option in the lower profile design too? Having the height taller would only effect the weight 20lbs max. Not that much, though I can understand if you don't like how bulky it looks.

I like the higher sides, cutting up the old bumper skin and expecting it to stay attached well is annoying. Also there was one or two custom CBI bumper orders where they had a mini slider/integrated side step built into that to act as mini ladders for getting to the roof rack I thought were cool.
I'm interested - I certainly want a nice rear bumper with a swing arm, but not in a position to be able to commit actual cash money before seeing what the final product would be.
My preferences for a final product would be:

- Doesn't go all the way up to the tail lights (requires fender modification, but keeps weight down)
- High clearance class III hitch receiver
- Gobi ladder compatible
- Easily removable swingarm (so the complaining is kept to a minimum when the wife drives it around for groceries.)
- Aluminum construction where possible (swingarm?) to minimize weight
- Looks as good as their 5th Gen rear bumper
EDIT: One more thing:
- I'd prefer that I do not have cut the crossmember - but if I that's the price I have to pay to get the rest of the items listed above, I'll live with it.

i want a good looking rear bumper but looking at their front bumper designs, i dont trust them to design something that is aesthetically pleasing.
Insain Fab's bumper is 100% ideal.

I like that Insain rear bumper. A tad blocky in the rear. Kind of wish it angled like that 5th Gen bumper that is sexy. However BlackWorks mentioned the connection if you cut the sides. Not sure how they would stay attached. Talking to a guy last weekend, he said one of the bigger reasons Demello didn't make a rear for us 4th Gen guys is because not many people wanted to hack their bumpers. I would...but not if they are flapping around. Plus...I'm fine with my Wilco as I know I can tow and I'm more Overland than rock crawler so departure angles aren't the BIGGEST thing.

Definitely interested, its tax season after all! I would love to see what design they come up with. I understand why they go all the way up to the tail lights. It seems easier for the customer to remove a panel rather then cut into a panel to fit. I have the shrockworks front so, a nice plated rear would look nice. If it seems to heavy ill get heavier springs to match.

I just posted my bumper from InSain to show that what a lot of people are looking for as far as the high clearance and leaving the top portion of the bumper sides is possible. However cutting your rear plastic bumper cover and your structural crossmember is more than a lot of people are comfortable doing on their own and I believe is what is holding this type of design back from being a production bumper for a lot of fabrication shops. It's definitely best to have this kind of bumper installed by the shop, which is the only way the InSain will do it. If you aren't willing to do the cutting, I believe the CBI is the best design out there. I'm sure Shrockworks would put together a nice design (I have their front bumper and really like it), but I dont see how it would be less chunky/higher clearance than CBI's without the previously mentioned cutting.
That said, if you live in Colorado or anywhere close, I'd encourage you to look at InSain. Very high quality and he will build you whatever you want. [MENTION=112497]VA4Runner09[/MENTION] is getting a bumper like mine made now with dual swingouts, dual hitches and a mount for every accessory you can imagine. I'm sure he will post pictures soon.
