Shrockworks said if I get 20 people interested they will build a rear bumper

Yeah, I agree you shouldn't have to pay for it like it's a one-off custom if it's something they're planning on bringing to market anyways. I work in a different automotive aftermarket, and we always have guys wanting free parts in exchange for us borrowing their car for a couple weeks. Like, I get it, you're inconvenienced, but that doesn't come close to covering the cost of two weeks of R&D, you know?

Any updates on this ? Op have you been in contact with Shrockwork ?

I'm about to call them tomorrow and see how far along my front bumper is in the process and I'll make sure I mention this initiative/thread. Perhaps if we have some more people do the same they'll see the interest.

Once they have the initial design in place they can perhaps run it through a focus group and see what's in demand and what the crowd wants before they finalize it. I think that would be the best way to do it.

Apparently they had plans to develop one but did not get around to it. I was told it was lack of interest for that generation. 20 people is alot but I figure its worth a shot to see. I was told that if I have 20 people interested they would consider moving forward with the R&D to get it completed.

Any word from Shrockworks?

Bad news guys. Shrockworks rep finally replied and said that despite the interest, they want to "move forward" not backwards. I don't really get it to be honest. I made the point that 4th gens are very popular and there is a massive market for the bumper. I guess CBI or someone else will reap the rewards. Don't give up though, maybe enough support and inquiry will sway them back to sanity.

That's unfortunate.

I talked to CBI and they will build me a custom rear bumper for my 4th gen. I basically want it to look 5th genish that you have to cut the rear bumper cover. I do not really like how the 4th gen bumpers go all the way up to the rear quarter panels.

Once I get the time I will drive to CBI drop off my vehicle for a month for them to work on it.

Also, I feel CBI should do a 'refresh' of the 4th gen bumper. Keeping the old style for very long loses interests.

I believe these rear bumper builders should come out with a newer better design after a while.

Maybe once they make a bumper for me that looks very similar to the 5th gen rear cbi bumper it can come to market for the 4th gens.

That's an interesting position, especially given that they make a 3rd Gen rear bumper. Sadly for them, that might also impact my willingness to purchase a front bumper from them. But it's certainly their call ... I'll just give my hard earned dollars to someone that wants them.

I agree, I really like the addicted off road front bumper and will probably be the one I get. Unfortunately they need the vehicle for 2 weeks to fab the rear bumper. That is why I reached out to shrockworks for the rear, but I never intended on a getting a front from them.
