Shrockworks said if I get 20 people interested they will build a rear bumper

Bad news guys. Shrockworks rep finally replied and said that despite the interest, they want to "move forward" not backwards. I don't really get it to be honest. I made the point that 4th gens are very popular and there is a massive market for the bumper. I guess CBI or someone else will reap the rewards. Don't give up though, maybe enough support and inquiry will sway them back to sanity.

Confirmed on the 'moving on'. I spoke with them yesterday and they said that 'there just isn't enough interest' and also mentioned that the time to develop wouldn't be worth it. I was saddened by those statements especially coming from an R&D company :\

I'm sad to see this thread at a dead end, but I'm not really surprised.

Committed? Not until I see it. NWTI is developing a DIY kit for the rear bumper. Pending final design I would likely end up with that to have matching front/rear bumpers

I would like a light-weight design, high clearance, tire swing out (additional swingout would be a plus) and a place for flush/recessed lights. Ideally double as a tow hitch

Any idea when this is expected to come out? I already have a NWTI front bumper and am only a couple hours from them so I would be very interested.

A solution - almost.

Forget Shrockworks, I found the perfect rear bumper - Low profile, lots of options for swingouts, doesn't replace the whole bumper.

There's only one little problem

. . . It's for a Land Cruiser.

(it's the ARB Modular Bumper)

Actually, maybe two problems: The base price is $1850, and that's before you pick out the swing arms which are $550 - 650 each. (I know actually not much of a premium over some of the other bumpers out there, but $3k for a bumper FEELS like a lot.)

Anyone got a metal shop? And is good at welding? I'll do the design and send you all the CAD you need . . .

Why doesn't somebody just buy the 4x4Labs or CBI bumper and use a cutoff wheel to cut it lower profile since everybody wants theirs "lighter" or lighter-looking? Heck, the CBI bumper already has the line to cut on. Just weld a small plate to the top to finish it off and cut out the top of your plastic bumper accordingly.

They need more pictures of this bumper. I've seen builds on here but can't find them at the moment.

I just ordered a weld it yourself kit from them and spoke to the owner. He custom tailored it to my needs and request. I should receive it later this month.

They have single & double swing outs, with ladder, gas can, cooler carrier and of course tire carrier options.

It does go all the way to the tail light, but I want that... so yeah.

You need to cut the crossmember to install the 4x4labs rear bumper, but that is the only way to gain more clearance. I've seen him do a couple different side designs, so maybe you can get it made lower profile like the slimmer ones out there. Also, the DIY kits are cost-effective and allow for customization on your part and there are a ton of accessories he sells.

This is sad. I was interested. The main reason I haven't bought a bumper yet is the shipping cost to Fla. CBI quoted 323$ for shipping a rear bumper. Just can't do it.

Alright bassmacka, there's 20+ for you to take to SW. It sounded like you would encourage interested people to contact SW themselves. Is there someone in particular we should talk to, or should we just email [email protected]?

Not sure if there's been any movement on this but I'm interested​ as well. Obviously looking for something cheaper than the cbi and would need swing outs for the tire and Jerry cans. I would like to see the design before I commit. It would have to happen sometime soon or I'm going to have to go for the cbi.

I would love to see a shrockworks rear bumper. I like the swing out CBI bumper but I haven't checked out the 4x4 labs one. The stock rear bumper is just so bland!

Just saw this thread. I'm also interested, but price and design are needed before committing. I'm not going to blindly say yes to something I have never seen, or has no set price point yet.
