My '05 Sport has that option. It seems ironic that you're paying for an option you hope you never actually use, but I thought it was worthwhile.

Get it! You may never use it, but if you do, you will be very very happy.

The weakest part of any vehicle for crashes is the side, and you need the most protection in this area.

I am an emergency first responder, and trust me when I say that anything that protects you in side impact collisions is worth the money. Your life is worth it. I have seen some ugly, ugly accident scenes.

I made sure that when I bought mine in April that it had the additional airbags. Like others, I hope I never have to use them.

Absolutely - a must have!! If I had been able to order mine (I had a time issue) I would have them on my 4Runner... Besides the safety issue, it increases the resale and could potentially lower your insurance bill.

as my first post here, let my start by saying "hi".

i am about to order a 2006 4runner sr5 and am for sure going to order the side air bags.
on july 27, 05 i rolled my 2000 tacoma a few times at high speed, and miraculously my passenger and i walked away with only a severe concussion (her) and cracked ribs (me). it was amazing how well my truck held up, but scary to know how bad it could have been.

YES. Remember, the side curtain airbags also protect you from being thrown out on a rollover. However, i heard that insurance rates are actually higher for cars with lots of airbags.

Are they worth the extra money?

That depends on how much the lives and health of you and your passengers is worth.

OF COURSE GET THE SIDE AIRBAGS!
