sign for overdrive working?

Hi there

Maybe a stupid question, how can I know whether I am in overdrive gear or not? On highway when I put the gear in D, my rpm is usually around 2000.

Thanks.

Count your shifts, depending what year and motor you have it has either a 4 or 5 speed tranny. Start on a long straight and accelerate through the gears counting shifts. Or get up to highway speed and turn O/D off and see if it drops.

Thanks. My machine is a SR5 2006, and it is said to have 5 speed tran. I don't think there is a switch to turn off O/D but I'll try to count the shift.

Its on the shifter , 1,2,3,4&5 ( od)

Drive on the hiway and get at a good crusing speed , move the shifter to the left ( 4th ) gear and watch you tach.

Yes, if I shift it left to 4, the rpm will jump higher.
5th gear is overdrive. If you manually shift it over into 4th, you are effectively turning off OD. On cars that have the OD button, when you press it, it simply doesn't allow the vehicle to shift into the top gear which is 5th gear in your T4R.

Hope that helps!
