The plan was to build an DD vehicle to be able to take the new born exploring and facilitate the love for offroading/exploring (due Nov 4 2014). Was looking at a 4 door JK and then remembered how much I loved my 96 4Runner so started looking for another 3rd Gen. I purchased my 3rd 4runner in August 2014 and decided to set this one up right from the beginning. Bought it bone stock and decided let the fun begin...

I'd consider replacing your OEM radiator if you still have it. You could also add a B&M tranny cooler to eliminate the tragic Pink Milkshake.

Tranny cooler and shift kit are next on the list. Does anyone happen to have those part numbers on hand? Radiator and front end was done at 220,xxx and I have full intentions on redoing all the cooling system and a little bit of boost around 300k.

So plans are changing. Going to remove the Kings and Total Chaos and doing a 3 linked SAS. Things change fast around here apparently. As I collect more parts for the SAS I will list the kings and TC upper A arms for sale. Sorry there still aren't pics. Where are you guys uploading pics to link to the site? Photobucket?

It did escalate quickly. It was always what I wanted to do but I tried to convince my self that it wasn't going to be necessary. The amount we are using the 4runner offroad now has taken me from 10% that IFS doesn't cut it to about 40%. This is giving me enough of a drive to do the SAS. I have done it on a few vehicles now (2002 GMC Sierra 1500 (Radius arms), 86 Chevrolet Blazer (leafs), and a 91 Toyota Pickup (3 link)) but this will be slightly different due to the rack and pinion. However with what I have found it wont be too difficult.

Still on the fence between modified ford radius arms or a 3 link but really leaning towards the 3 link. Also not sure if I want coils or coilovers. Again I have done this both ways with great results for either. Goal is 3-3.5" of lift and 35's. The 4runner drives to all trails. Anywhere from 30 mins away to 5 hours. It is also daily driven by myself and used to take the family exploring. Not my only vehicle but not wanting to lose any capabilities that I presently have.

Going to use a 78-79 Ford HP44 with mid 70's Waggy outers. This will give me my Drivers side High pinion with 6 lug outers and high steer. Will be stuffed with 4.88's and an ARB. The 44 will handle 35's fine and if I ever upgrade to 37's then I can just purchase RCV's. A 60 would be nice but then I have to buy 6 lug 60 spindles and the tubes and housing are bigger which will cost me clearance. I know the strength out weighs this but if I ever need a 60 I will just set it up the same as the 44 and swap it in. Who knows maybe I will find a great deal on one. Then it would be worth it.
