For those that put silicone around cheap headlights to try to seal them, can you give some details? I assume it's between the clear polycarbonate and the black frame. Did you fill the entire gap in the places where it's large? Did you do all around or leave the bottom in case it's supposed to drain? Any other tips? It's not as obvious what to do as I expected.

Are you taking the lens off of the backing or just trying to seal it?
I at one point had a little bit of water intrusion on an old Nissan Sentra. I had sealed it after separating it, with butyl tape. It's pliable in the heat and retains it's flexibility.
I did pull the 3rd gen lights apart but it's a glass lens, and used butyl tape to seal that as well.
I've read posts that suggest adding a bead of silicone to cheap "Amazon" headlights, so my assumption was just to caulk around the edges. However, the edges aren't as clearly defined as I has assumed.
I am not going to separate them.

Okay. Headlights aren't sealed like you might see a tile expert caulk tiles around trim in a house. However, if you want to "seal" them further, silicone for sure!
