Ok guys I have searched the forums for about an hour now and I have found that allot of the threads that are posted can be confusing and also have information not specifically meant for the model and year vehicle in question.
So here is my question:
How do I bleed the brakes on my 1997 4Runner 2wd Automatic with ABS?
I have read where you need a scanner tool to activate the solenoids??
Doesn't sound right....
Then I have read that one must bleed the brakes with the vehicle running.
Still Doesn't sound right....
I have always bled brakes by starting at the wheel cylinder furthest from the master cylinder:
RR
RL
FR
FL
NEVER PUMP THE PEDAL
JUST PRESS AND HOLD, then open the bleeder, wait a few seconds and close the bleeder letting your helper know to release the pedal
Repeat and repeat until finished.
Is this correct ?
Am I missing something?
Please let me know.
The reason for this question is because I tried using a mighty vac to bleed them myself after doing pads rotors, shoes and drums and my brake pedal is still soft.
Gonna have my neighbor help me tonight with bleeding them again.
Thanks for your help.
