Yesterday. I was in PA. I stopped at this waterfall to check it out. I accidentally hit the elocker switch ( LowRangeOffRoad) elocker is swapped so no ecu. Will turn on whenever. However I confused my self and second guessed. Slightly hitting the button up ( ON ) Position. For some odd reason. I though it was off position and held it down for few seconds thinking I was turning it off. But I actually engaged it ( truck was parked ). Then after driving around wavy Road roughly 60 mph. And making few slow 90degree turns at intersections. About 10-20miles I realized that the rear was locked when I came to stop sign and made a turn. I turned it off. And double checked everything by turning it back on and making sure it was still locking. I don’t think I ****ed anything up. But it was STUPID OF ME !!! The rear did not make any odd noises. But I’m just overthinking about it right now.

But I’m just overthinking about it right now.

You're overthinking it, or you're over thinking about it?
It sounds like you're overthinking it, and you need to get over thinking about it.
You could drive around with it locked on dry pavement daily, and you'd likely not damage anything other than your tires!
I wouldn't recommend it- and it's definitely more stressful on your axles and carrier- but I'd be shocked to see anything actually fail from doing so.

Thanks bud. I was thinking the same thing. Just wanted to double check it.

People weld rear diffs all the time. No big deal.

Gotch ya. At least I didn’t engage it at 50mph. Just that I drove it on dry pavement.

I have the LowRangeOffRoad switch. And for some reason. It won illuminate when the locker is engaged. Supposedly the connector with 2 pins going to the axle is in control of that. Not sure what the deal is!!

The axles would be spinning at the same rate of speed, so even that wouldn't hurt anything. There is basically a shift fork and synchro in there, so it's really like shifting your manual trans. Granted- shifting it without a clutch. But the only point of the clutch is to allow different rates of speed to be matched fluidly, and since the axles would be spinning at the same rate, the shift should be seamless.
When you DON'T want to hit the switch is when you're doin a one-tire-fire!

In the classified section...."Gently used locking rear axle for sale".... Just kidding.
Nothing to worry... just drive...
