silly newbie question

i am in iraq and looking for some info on the 4runners, because when i get home i have to buy a new SUV for my wife. the question is i was looking at buying the urban runner 4wd edition, but the problem that is presenting itself to me is i dont know if these have an option for 3rd row seating. i already have 3 children and my wife wants another child yet. so i need something with 3rd row seating and 4wd. we both like the looks of the 4runner and i have been fans of them since they were 2 door solid axle'd rides.. thanks for any insight to this

I did a little looking around at Toyota.com and the best guess I could come up with is, yes, 3rd row seating is available as an option in it. But that's a guess.

I dug up this on the Urban Runner info page:

"The Urban Runner Package deletes the following Sport Edition standard equipment: high-contrast fabric-trimmed seats, AM/FM CD player, silver-tone accent shift knob, silver-tone interior trim, 17-in. 6-spoke alloy wheels with P265/65R17 raised white outline letter tires, smoked chrome grille, and tubular side steps and roof rack with graphite-painted finish."

So it sounds like it starts out as a Sport model, and is tweaked up to Urban Runner status from that trim level. That said, every "Sport"model listed on their site, from 6 cylinder 2WD through 8 cylinder 4x4 all list "3rd row 50/50 split fold down removable seats" as "optional".

I could not find a pure spec sheet on the Urban Runner - only on the SR5-Limited trim levels (and every one of them offer 3rd row as an option).

Yikes, three kids and possibly a 4th? You might want to go with a Suburban. I've got a 4runners and a suburban with two kids and I swear, there still isn't enough room in the suburban sometimes!

Don't get me wrong, I have two 4th generation 4runners and love them both. But the 3rd row seating I have seen in the 4runners doesn't leave room to carry anything else unless you throw it into a roof top carrier. Just my two cents.

The 3rd row seat IS an option from Toyota, however, I have not come across a UR with the 3rd row installed from the factory or at the port (most likely b/c the double deck is part of the UR package). IMO your only option would be to have the dealer install it on site... however, this will cost your some serious $$$. Maybe you can barter the DD + cash for the 3rd row seat.

Have you looked into a Sequoia (sp?) or Land Cruiser?

What about the new Sequioa's? I really like how they look.

And from what I've seen, the third row seats on the T4R are kind of a joke.

to the best of my knowledge, 3rd row not available on the sport model.

The Sequoia (until it got fat) is, to me, the perfect sized vehicle. I would have one right now, but I needed something with more off-road capability and better gas mileage. Not that the Sequoia can't go off-road, it's just a little too bulky for a lot of the places I go.

The 4Runner barely has enough room for me and 3 friends and 4-7 days worth of gear. With the third row, as someone stated above, you'd have to put your gear on the roof, and my guess is that it wouldn't all fit up there.
