Hi all, is it possible to remove the silver strip in this pic without removing the entire door panel?
I tried to pry it off using some nylon door panel removal tools but I couldn't get it off.
Thx all
No, the door pannel would have to be removed far as I know. I just took mine off to sound damp, didn't necessarily focus on that particular part but from the looks of it its not an instert. Door pannel removal is easy, pry out the plastic triangle thing where the handle/lock is, and the cushion arm rest directly under that trim piece you want removed - kill those 2 screws then pry the pannel away from the door starting from the very bottom corner and work your way around
If it's the color or something you want to change, look for an interior dash kit that is cut to fit
I would remove the door panel so you could see from the inside-out. Chances are it can't be removed and you'll end up snapping that insert, which will probably cost you $100 from toyota given that it's a generation old part they have sitting in a warehouse that will never get used. Crazy right. I could be wrong but better to be safe than sorry
Here is a write up for sound dampening, I just did my doors. Difference is noticeable especially if you want to upgrade your door speakers in the near future
I followed his steps, minus the super expensive Dynamat kit he purchased. I used 80 mil sound dampening material off of Amazon, same exact process and it's all you need.
