Silver running boards from a limited

Howdy everyone -

My wife currently has an '05 4Runner Sport (V8/4WD) that has the standard black running boards. I'd like to find a set of the silver running boards that also came on these vehicles from the factory. I've called around to the junk yards around town, but can't find anything.

Couple of questions -

First, what year(s) and model(s) were these available? I know that they came on the Limited in '05, but I seem to remember that they were all silver in earlier years (could be wrong though).

Second, where can I score some of these? Any of you folks have a set taking up space in the garage???

My 03 SE came with black - I replaced them with black lighted ones from an 05 Limited. I have friend with '03 Limited V8 and his does have silver but others seem to have black so not sure if it depends on body color or whim. Someone talked about having painted his - not sure how durable that would be though.

When you replaced them with the lighted ones, how did you wire them up? I've been wondering if the wiring is already there on my vehicle or not. I'm hoping it is.

Thanks for the info... I'm still searching for the silver ones, but so far haven't had any luck.

Wiring is NOT there - a rubber body plug is - I wired Rt side under carpet to Lf then up to the trim ring around key switch. There is a write up here - hopefully a search will find it. They come on with keyless entry and dim with rest of interior lights.

Off this list classifieds - about 20 miles away for great price. Donor was into serious off roading and had custom built rock sliders. You can add lights to ones you have using aftermarket side reflector or led lights -- there is also write up here on doing that.
