Silverstar Ultras question *pics*

I just installed my Silverstar Ultras yesterday. Unfortunately, they don't look like I thought they would. From the pictures I saw online and people's descriptions of their Silverstars I was expecting a nice bright light with a blue tint. What I got was definitely brighter than the stock headlights but it was not what I was expecting. It just looks like high beams of the regular headlights. Here's a pic:

Is this what they're supposed to look like?

yep, mine actually for some reason were tinted a little more yellow then that. hella bulbs are about the same and more white if you ask me.

I like the super white, mine look just like them. unfortunately I jacked my right headlight up so it's all loose and un-aimable, oh well

Those look like mine. Silverstar Ultra's do not have a blue tint. Too bad you had to find out the hard way. :\

The silverstar ultra is just about 40% brighter than regular halogen. Whats hot in europe is Philips Xtreme Power... "Up to 80% more light

the silverstars have a blueish tint, at least when they are new. i have them and they seem to have slowly lost their blueness.

however you bought the silverstar ultras, which are slightly brighter and just plain headlight color.

i think mine are perfect, i didnt want the really blue looking ones cause they look cheap in my opinion, mine are super white with a hint of blue. they are from a company i had never heard of called hi-lite. they are 7000k and were $18.54 off ebay.

i have the piaas and i dig em, not as bright as and hid but they are about a 4000k look, and the Phillips that were posted dont show that they have an h4 bulb on their website in that style bulb...........

do these bulbs have a blue glass? im not a fan of the blue either, and i hate when the housing is reflecting all the blue around it when the lights are off. it looks gay IMO sorry if i offend.
and for rhe original poster check out texon too i heard good things about them. there fairly priced and good quality. but again they are blue and not my cup of tea.

for those that have PIAA's and aren't happy, check the voltage at the socket and make sure its good. If not you can always do a couple relays to get better voltage and up the light output.

Are thesethe bulbs you're talking about?

yes those are the ones, and the bulbs are blue but the housing doesn't reflect it bad, i don't think i'd notice unless i was looking for it.

So the quality of the bulbs is good and you're happy with them? I'm a little cautious just because they're so cheap but I guess that's also a reason to go ahead and buy them because even if they crap out I didn't lose much $ and I've always got the Silverstars as a backup. I might buy a pair of those to see what they're like.

Stock lamps are about typically 3500K - 3800K. The Silverstars are 4000K and the Silverstar Ultras are 4100K. The Silverstars do not, and were not designed to, emit any bluish light. I've been using them for years in all of my vehicles (since ~2002) and am very happy with them. I find anything beyond 4500K and I begin to lose useable light and it's especially annoying in dark inclement weather at which point my 2500K fogs need to be turned on to provide the contrast that you lose with those hotter bulbs.

Other than that, I have nothing against people that run the "beat-my-brains-in-with-a-baseball-bat-annoying" bluish or purplish bulbs. :bash:
