Ever since a bunch of you helped me to decide to go with the Nitto Terra Grapplers I can no longer run my front factory mud flaps. They rub when turning either direction at almost full lock, and if compression of the shock occurs there is even less clearance. Even without the flaps mounted I am still rubbing at the outer fender wall.
These are size LT265/75/16 on a 99 4Runner that originally came with the 16" wheel/tire package-but of course in the 70 series sidewall. I like this look and tire and prefer to stay with it-I don't anticipate going up 33s or anything more hardcore for offroading. I wheel only occasionally-never as much as I would like to-and the rig is on the street probably 90% of the time.
I like being told what to do, I have to make decisions all dang day at work.
Tell me your opinion please on what I should do to gain a few precious inches of clearance on the fronts....
I should also add I just picked up the ARB Tacoma bumper and I am already hearing it is going to make my front end "droop" a bit-I also do have the rear "sag" to a slight bit, so I have been evaluating the various Old Man Emu spring offerings but am confused by all the options. I like the "rake" look but not to an extreme.
I have trouble visualizing complex situations but the way I see it is: I need more wheel well room from front to rear as opposed to top to bottom and I don't quite know how to achieve that.
I would try to help with photos of the trouble I am encountering-but I am not computer savvy enough to do that. I can send gifs and jpegs to a private email but I can't make it work through a forum like this. (thanks to all who have tried to explain this to me-but it is over my head)
