Sirius Radio finaly

Went to my dealer today and apparently Siruis has fixed the problems with the 2008 JBL/nav/touchscreen Sirius fit kit. It is now out and has been for a couple of months now.
Part # PTS31-53060 - $199.00 (reciever/ant)
Part # PTS31-33051 - $100. 00 (fit kit)
I didnt buy it yet b/c I want to look online for a cheaper price then the Stealer. Anybody have expierence on installation of sirius/xm to a factory radio. Plug and play with no splicing I think so is it that difficult or is is simple enough to do it yourself?

I saw the instructions a couple of years ago, so they might have changed. At that time, everything was plug-and-play, but the job requires a lot of disassembly of things to place parts and run wires. You have to get at the back of the radio of course, as well as putting the receiver under the passenger seat and putting the antenna somewhere. It should be an easy job as long as you're patient with the silly plastic clips that hold everything together.

Unfortunately, TSS is out of stock. It is simply 2 pieces that you could find somewhere else as single pieces...it is the TOYSC1 (that connects directly to your nav system with no splicing) and the SCC1 which is the Sirius tuner (just plugs into the TOYSC1 via DIN cable).

All you have to do is figure out where to hide the internal stuff (mine's in the drop down panel under the glove box), mount and route your antenna/wire. All the connections are plug-n-play. Once it is hooked up and working, it is controlled entirely from your touchscreen and steering wheel controls as the SAT1, SAT2, & SAT3 bands on the radio. Each have 6 storage spaces for a total of 18 presets for your Sirius.

Be watchful of sites like 1sttoyotaparts.com and 1toyotaparts.com...they aren't really generic Toyota part websites, they're websites for specific Toyota dealership service departments, they may not always have *the* best price. They are often lower than retail, but just do your homework before committing to one source over another.

I found Rick Hendrick's deal by accident one day while searching for an 02 sensor for my Tundra. Now I get all my 02 sensors there (one goes out every year on my Tundra) and they are nice enouch to honor their online price if you call for a stock check but come in to purchase it...I just happen to have an invoice from Rick Hendrick Toyota when I called the 1toyotaparts.com phone number...and realized it was the same number while I was on the phone with them...IIRC, they do not advertise anywhere on their site as to "who" they really are. Dealers know they have the "stealer" reputation and have begun backing off letting you know they ARE a dealer with this clandestine "parts websites"...I'm sure there are dozens out there just like these two - likely part of a big company setup from Toyota just to move their parts from "outside" the normal parts desk at the local dealership.

I still say the OP's best option is to get the Directed Electronics (Sirius' in-house/brand name gear) TOYSC1 and SCC1 for about $150 total. TSS has it listed for $130 after a rebate but are out of stock on the kit with both pieces. Installation of everything minus the antenna should take less than an hour from teardown to button-up...Antenna installation varies depending on the location chosen and how they choose to do the cable routing. I installed mine (slightly different since I used a movable plug-n-play tuner in lieu of the SCC1) in just under 3 hours and took 1.5 hours for lunch in the middle of the install.
