Sirius Sat install with Nav

Installed my new Sirius Satellite radio with my Nav system this weekend. Works great! It shows up on the screen as a CD changer, but the sound quality is much better than the FM modulator - no interference.

Heres what I used -

PAC Aux-box with AB-TOY cable - from Logjam electronics

CD Changer 'Y' cable from local Toyota dealer

Sirius Sportster satellite reciever

While I had the thing taken apart, I wired in three 12V auxillary power outlets for the front....

Very slick! I got to get one by next winter to listen to Howard Stern. I was going to hold off because I thought there may be an upgrade in that time.

Howard Stern will be starting on Sirius this January I think....he wanted to start earlier, but they won't let him out of his current contract....

You still might hold off on buying a unit anyway....Sirius is suppose to be offering an upgrade sometime in 2005 that is a stand-alone reciever - like a walkman- you will be able to take it anywhere....

That looks pretty nice. Can you post a picture that better shows your mount and how it attaches to the dash? I am currently using an XM Roady2 hooked up using the provided tape adapter into the standard 04 cd/tape unit. I have the roady2 mounted on the "fast food" foldout tray using velcro. This setup does the job but I'm eventually looking to get an aux adapter (getting sick of static) and am looking for a better mount. Also, do you know if your adapter would work with the 05 solara nav units from oemvalue?

Can you tell me where you ran the wires to the unit? yours is very clean and i like it.

Do you have a part number for the CD Changer "y" cable and how much did you pay?

I tried 2 dealerships. One could not find it the other said it was $60. I am hoping that he had the wrong part and that the cable is much cheaper.

The part number is 08695-00370. I got it for $20.32 at a dealer in the DC area. I have started having some trouble with mine. OCcasionally it will stop working and the only way to get it to start working again is to shut down the engine and restart the vehicle Sometimes it takes several tries before the stereo will recognize the "cd changer" again. I am goign to call PAC and see if anyone else is having this problem and if they have a fix for it....

Thanks for the info and the update. I may wait a while as I am currently using the FM Mod and I think the sound is OK. My biggest problem is when I travel and drive into an area that has 107.1 (my fm mod station) as a regular FM station. Since I hard wired the unit, changing the FM mod station really isn't an option.

Problem with PAC AUX-BOX

Great job with the installation. I've got an '03 Limited with Nav and I'd like to do the same thing with my wife's Sirius tuner. Right now we're using the wireless FM transmitter, which doesn't work well in LA. I've looked at the various Aux kits on the web and it seems that only the PAC AUX-BOX + AB-TOY is compatible with the NAV system (as opposed to the PIE TOY03-AUX, if you're familiar with that one). Are you still having problems with the power cutting off, or has that been solved?

Question from the audio/electronics challenged member (s). I have a 2006 with Navigation.

It has the button that says "AM - SAT".

My question is this: If I want to add sirius sattelite...do i need to have an "external" sattelite unit or is there something that can be hooked up within the navigation?

Yes, it is a external box...

and it works with NAV.
