Sirius wont keep a signal

i have a Sirius radio...and one of the head udits that is separate from the one in the dash...so i mounted it to the roof...hanging down...but lately...it wont keep a signal...every 2-3 seconds...it will say "Acquiring Signal"...like it does when i go into a parking garage...then it will find the signal...just to lose it again...i have had it installed for about 3 months...and this just started 5 days ago...any ideas why?

Where is your antenna located?

Those antennas go bad from time to time too...

it is on the roof...tonight it worked fine...but earlier today it wasnt workin fine...wierd shit...i might try another antenna...do they make a different kind than the magnetic square?

Oops I created a duplicate thread. I posed this question in the Off Topic section of the Forum.

Yes I have had the same problem as you described and so have three other people I know that have Sirius.

The rumor I heard was that the FCC tweaked the satelite frequency so that the terestrial radio signal would step on the satelite frequency subsequently causing the "Aquiring Signal" message to appear on the satelite receiver.

Since terrestrial could not compete with Satelite the FCC found a way to level the playing field and basically told 5 million subscribers to F#$% Off. With Clear Channel and the religeous right in the FCC's back pocket nothing surprises me.

sirius has always been known to have the worst of signals between it and XM... both cut out, but sirius more so than xm. IDK about the whole FCC thing, but sounds a bit out there to me.

I do know the FCC steped in and told sirius and XM to have manufactures of their recievers to lower the power of the wireless fm modulators. Apparantly some were so strong that passing cars on the same station could pick up the signal and satellite radio would play through their radio. But lowering the strength of the wireless fm mod wouldn't change the actual signal your reciever gets.

im startin to think it may have been a satelite problem they were havin for a couple days...and it ended up gettin worse...but now it is fine...havent lost the signal in a couple days...but it doesnt get it as quickly...and in some parking garages where i used to get it...it doesnt recieve it...plus...im gettin some static through the transmission...which i didnt before...dont know what is goin on...but it works fine now...at least for me...
