Site outage [Fixed]

Administrator
As some of you noticed, the site was down for about 30 minutes this afternoon. This was due to a hardware failure on our server. This has now been addressed and everything should be back to normal.

Let me know if you notice anything out of the ordinary.

Cheers,
admin.

What is normal. A lot of times even when things are 'normal' pages load very slowly on this site.

VERY slow right now. It wasn't this bad earlier today and I've seen the slowdowns before. When it gets slow, it will take 30-45 seconds to load a page or the page will timeout while loading.

It 'feels' like the server is overloaded or being throttled (QoS issue) by the provider.

I agree that it's normally fine, but tonight it has been painfully slow. It has really been a pain to try and load pages.

Slow site

I found this site very slow compared to others I visit over the past week. Tonight is especially bad. Not sure if it's a routing thing. My ISP is Telus, FWIW. I have had no problems loading and uploading to other sites today.

Yes, looks like the site is still recovering from the outage. Working with the hosting company to resolve this.

Thank you! I was a little dissapointed when i opened this thread, i was hoping it was going to be this years april fools joke but i guess not . . .

Ha! I'm not that cruel :)

The site will be moved to a new server shortly (with insignificant downtime). Hopefully that will fix it for good.

I have days where I can't load it at all and I'm on a fiber connection. :(

Glad to hear improvements are being made. :)

remember that even though most of us have FiOS/fast connections, that it really doesn't matter how fast WE can DOWNLOAD the page, what really matters is how fast the server can SEND/UPLOAD us the page. Sometimes the data centers or the servers themselves are getting too many connections, hence the slow page loads.

We are now on a new server, and things look much better. Please let me know if you notice any slowness.

Yeah, the site is basically unusable right now. Took me about 30 seconds to load this page on a 10meg connection. :(

its been kinda flaky the last 30 mins or so. It's 1146pm eastern time right now

Going on 3 hours now...

Keep getting this:
