Size tires to get

I have a 2005 Toyota 4runner Limited V8 4x4. I am in the market for tires and currently live in Texas but in a few weeks will be moving to Massachusetts. I want to get a tire that is still comfortable and has good thread life but will allow for the occassional off roading (more likely gravel roads) and good performance in the snow (since I've never driven in it much in texas) and rain.

I am leaning towards an all-terrain b/c I also want that meaner look.

Also I know stock tires are 265/65/17...but is it ok to change the size slightly? I've seen some good deals on craigslist for 265/70/17 will that work on my truck? what different sizes could I look at? Also I would like to try to get the best bang for the bucks so please keep that in mind if possible too....Thanks for any help and input

Lots of people use 265/70/17's with no issues. Even if it's old and semi-worn you should probably get a 265/70/17 spare. As to which tire; there's a million opinions. Revo's and Goodyear GY SA's are popular choices for you needs. The Michelin LTX and LTX A/T2's are also great choices.

Good luck!
