Ski rack for 07 Sport

I'm looking for a simply ski rack that will work with my factory Sport cross bars that will hold 2-4 pairs of ski's.

Any suggestions?

I saw someone on the highway with my ski rack (Yakima FatCat 6) attached to the factory cross bars. I don't recall it if was a sport or limited (or if the cross bars are different across models). this person did not have the yakima (or similar) cross bars. Also, I went to yakima.com and put in your information, including stock cross bars and it came up with 4 rack options. see attached pic.

I've had the Yakima Fat Cat on my 3rd gen runner and purchased a Thule box (Cascade 1600) for my current 4th gen. If you can front the extra $$$, go with a box from either Thule or Yakima. The box is so much nicer and takes literally 30 seconds to put on and take off. I found my Thule box on Craigslist slightly used at half the price.

I have the Yakima Big Powderhorns on my 2006. They have worked great for over 5 seasons. You can buy a lock so they don't disappear when you are away from your rig for a bit. They can be mounted with universal mounts or specific mounts to your factory crossbars. I have the 10V for my limited. Not sure if its the same for the sport depending on which rack you have. I agree, the boxes are nicer, but the regular ski racks are easier to store for the summer. Good luck!

I've got a pair of Yakima Powderhounds that fit I believe 4 pairs of skiis, some say they can fit 5. I also have the mighty mounts to allow it to attach to any factory crossbars ($45 for the mounts) and then one of those lift attachments to raise one side and allow for more clearance to fit the bindings (i think more of an issue with snowboards).

I just bought a MegaWarrior basket and am looking to sell my powderhound if interested. I paid about $160 for the setup with the mighty mounts so I'm looking to get about $100 shipped. Any interest? I'd recycle the funds for my CB install

Looks like you've already made up your mind to go with Thule's, but I'll be the 5th person to recommend/endorse Yakima. I've had the Big Powderhounds for years and while I mount them on Yakima crossbars (as others have said, they will also fit on the factory crossbars) they are fantastic racks. I've been using Yakima products for close to 30 years with no complaints ... :thumb3:

The Yakima Fat Cats are more aerodynamic. It should help with MPG and wind noise.

I've had my Thule for 6+ years. Sometimes I have a problem opening them. They seem to hang near the key area. Annoying when it's freezing out.

Agreed ... just depends on whether or not that's worth an extra $60 to you. I would've probably bought the fat cats, but they didn't make them when I bought my powderhounds ...

I'm running Thule Flat Top and 575 on Thule bars to get additional clearance for bindings.

Gotta utilize all 5 seats!

I have the Yakima FatCat6 on my 2007 4Runner SR5.

I can fit (4) boards or (6) pairs of skis hence the name FatCat(6)

• The Limited has the same roof rack.
• Sport Edition has a higher roof rack, so it will definately work too.
