Ski Rack recommendations 4th Gen.

Husky makes a cargo liner for 4th Gen. Be sure to order the correct version - with or without double decker storage shelf. Never heard of a ski rack here in Houston.:D
 
i have both yakima and thule roof racks. i think they're about the same price. i have found that yakima is slightly better quality, but both are very good. just go for whatever you get a better deal on.
 
I've had a Yakima "Button Down" for years, and have been very happy with it. I just bought new "Might Mount" adapters to fit it to the factory cross bars on my '04 4Runner. I think Yakima has a newer model now (called "Lift Ticket" maybe?), but it should still be made to fit the Mighty Mount adapters. I bought my new Mighty Mounts a few weeks ago at REI.
 
I was at the dealer the other day asking about cargo mats and got to see a Husky as well as an OEM mat. The OEM was not carpet (all the website pictures show a carpeted mat) and is a little softer than the Husky, with not as large of a lip. The parts guy also said Toyota makes another OEM mat that lays completely flat, maybe that's the carpet one. So I guess there are 3 choices if you're looking for a custom fit solution.

Another option is to mount the powderhound directly to the stock crossbars :)

I have the megawarrior along w/ the powderhound but I think i'll be mounting the powderhound directly when I use it.

lefty can you please post a few more shots of your whole vehicle from a few angles. ive ordered a yakima rack and just wanna see how it looks...yours is the first ive seen it on. thanks

lefty thanks...finally another person with the same hood deflector!i picked up mine yesterday, and cant wait to put it on tomorrow. i had 48" crossbars from my old runner, but they are too short, so had to order the 58"s. ill post pics when i get it on. thanks again.
 
what about the oem cross bars?

I am a Thule fan and got the 754XT (cross bars that clamp onto the side rails)-- all of your posts resulted in a few more questions:

1- If you add Yakima or Thule cross bars, do you leave the OEM bars in place? can they be removed? have you found locations that minimize wind noise if you have both the oem and additional cross bars?

2 - When I used my Thule fairing on my last vehicle, it went just about to the top of the windshield. How does your Yakima fairing work? does it interfere with the sunroof? Does it cut wind noise that far back from the windshield?

I leave the OEM cross bars on. The Yakima rack puts inward pressure on the roof rack, so I believe that leaving the OEM cross bars on counteracts the effect of the Yakima .

I don't have a sunroof in my SR5, don't think it is availalbe on the 2004 SR5 models here in Canada.

I have no noise from my roof rack, and associate the fairing as being all or part of it.
