I bought the toyota skid plate on ebay and was wondering if I should install it myself or have the dealership do it so I get the warranty? How much should I pay for install? Thanks

It's at max a 30 minutes job. If you can turn a wrench you will have no problems doing the install yourself. It's basically two nutserts and four bolts.

Take your time and enjoy.

Thanks MAC4Runner...I think im going to do it myself I was just taking the warranty in consideration but what do you really need a warranty for on the skid plate for?

You dont need a warranty on a skidplate. If you destroy it offroading, warranty isnt going to cover it....idk what a warranty on a skid plate would be.

Most everything that comes on/with a car has a warranty since it's just standard to protect the consumer against defect or faulty workmanship.

right but you would notice something wrong with the skid plate immediately...its not like overtime it would stop working unless it was damaged by something the driver did.....

I installed the Skid Plate myself on my URunner. Took about 20 min. No drilling at all. Here it is:

I put the skidplate on my 4Runner about 1 month ago. I was in the same boat as you; not knowing whether to do it myself or take it to the stealer. I did it myself and it didn't take too long. The tricky part is the mushroom nut I guess you could call it (not too familiar with the terminology). Anyways, there are some good pics on the forum of someone who installed it and took some upclose pics of where the plate connects to the truck.
