Skid Plate question

So my 1994 5spd manual T4R didnt have a skid plate on it. I ended up buying one from a local guy here in MN off of a 3rd gen 4runner. does anyone know what sort of mods I could do to make it fit. The 2nd gen plates are smaller and 3rd gen seems larger and seems to protect the tranny case as the 2nd gen just protected everything in front of the front axle. I am not shy to welding:flamethrwoer2: but want to have easy enough access to get at stuff such as oil filter and such from underneath without grinding off the skid plate every 3k miles lol. thanks for replies or ideas.

Just get a stock one. Can be had for cheap at junkyards.

unfortunately the junkyards around here are slim pickings for 4runners and even slimmer for 1-2 generations.

One off of a 86-95 pickup will fit too. All the same.

Kzink where do you live? would it be hard to ship it to MN?

Also thanks for the info about the other types of trucks to look for. I will keep an eye out for other trucks close to that year. by truck I assume you mean the Tacomas?

No! Not a tacoma. Tacomas came out in 96, before that Toyots trucks in the US were just "pickups".

So your looking for a 95.5 and older IFS trucks and 4runners. They all share the same IFS front end.

Are you talking about a real skid plate or the stamped tin mud guard that comes stock?

If your local parts places don't have one, Spaldings Auto in Spokane, WA is sure to have one. I get lots of parts from them and their shipping cost is pretty reasonable and fast. I get my stuff the next day from them and I'm over in MT.
