Skid plates

I took a first good look at the undercarriage of my 2002 SR5 tonight as I just purchased it a week ago. There is a skid plate on the front covering the radiator, etc. Also a skid plate on the driver's side that cover the area front the front of the running board to the back. I saw NO skid plate on the passenger side, but it looks like there was one there originally. Does anyone know where to purchase an OEM skid plate for the passenger side?

If your refering to the black plastic "skid" or whatever it is because lets face it plastic doesnt do too much! anyways its only on the driver side kinda under the driver footwell area. thats it.

There's not one for the passenger side. I have no idea what the one on the driver side protects, it is just plastic as was said.

Might be, but he did say from the front of the running boards so I'm guessing the black protective cover that is on the driver side and is absent on the same exact location but on the passenger side.

Get some Budbuilt skids if you're worried about bashing your undercarriage.

No, not the fuel tank skid plate, that is there also, ....., this one starts right at the axle and runs along the side up to the fuel tank skid plate. It may be there to protect some lines, wiring, etc.... When I get my 4runner back I will have to look and see just out of curiousity.

Thanks for the info. I suspected that there never was any plastic plate on the passenger side, but I wanted to check with you guys. I don't know what the drivers side plate protects but it would be logical for there to be a plate on both sides. Thanks again, this forum is a plethera of information.

If you are really curious, remove the three screws that hold it in place, adn see what is under there. I took mine off to give me more arm room to add the spacer on my steering rag-joint when I installed my 1.5" body lift. I don't recall seeing much of anything there, but then again, I didn't pay any attention to that either. Mine has a busted hole in it from off-roading, so I may just leave it off, however, if it didn't have the busted hole, then whatever it is supposed to protect would have it I guess.

I think the plastic one protects the fuel filter. That's the only thing of importance above it.
