Skidplate Question on 01?

Started to remove my front skidplate while changing my oil, and found out is connected to a 2nd plate further back. I thought the front most skid was one piece, but it appears to be connected by a thin piece of metal to the second skid. Does this sound right?

Take off the back skid first, then the front. Back skid is 4 bolts and front is 5, IIRC. But I never bother to do this when changing my oil. It might drip a little oil from the plates for a little bit, but doesn't bother me.

I usually keep them bolted together and take the whole thing off as one piece
