Skinnys with no lift

I have read through tons of threads and noticed you can fit the rubicon "skinnys" with 1/0 lift. I wonder, if I don't take it offroading, will it fit without rubbing? The reason I ask is I plan on getting a lift very soon (need to sell my TJ), but in the mean time the tires on the t4r I just bought are in pretty bad shape. I found a set of rubi wheels and tires (new for $550). I figure I can sell the rims for at least 350, so its a pretty cheap set of tires. My assumption is the 1/0 lift is needed if you are going to articulate the suspension, but if you are just driving around short term, will a stock suspension work?

Thoughts?

I have a stock 4wd, v8, 2005 sport.

You should be fine with the 255/75r17 tires from the Rubicon. Lifts don't change where the suspension bottoms out, unless you modify the bumpstops. I'm running those exact tires and don't rub, even with bottoming out the suspension.

Are you running stock wheels? That seems to make the biggest difference with fitting tires. Stock wheels are fine, after market wheels with different offset can cause issues.

Also, that tire fits in the spare location just fine.

Strange coincidence I'm sitting at Discount Tire having a Rubi take-off put on my 2004 4R spare wheel. I've been running the tires since I got my Rubicon lifted with 35's a month ago. My 4R does have a 3" spacer lift but it's not needed for those tires. I was just in a lift state of mind and did it a week after the Rubicon when I had the tires installed. I tried one of the Rubicon tires on stock 4R wheel under the back in the spare place yesterday and it fit fine. The place that installed the lift said it wouldn't fit but at this point I don't think they even tried. I know these tires will work without a lift without rubbing because they're 1" narrower than the Nitto and BFG A/T tires I'd been running prior to the lift. Those were LT265/70R17 and they never rubbed that I noticed, never did anything extreme though.
