Skipping CD

Some time ago the CD player in my '02 T4R started skipping. Sounds much like bumping an old record turntable. It even does it when stopped at a light, so apparently not caused by vehicle movement. It does Not do it on radio or tape player. Those work fine.

I did a search and didn't find any satisfactory answers, except for the guy who said to open it up and lube something or other with light white grease. I did open up the old one and it's beyond my skills to get past the 1st couple of steps.....something went sproinnnng inside and now it's beyond my skills to put it back together. Not gonna try that with the "new" one.

Ordered a new one on eBay and when I installed it, found that it does exactly the same thing. The guy on eBay says to return it and he'll send me another one, but I hate coincidences - 2 units having the identical problem......or is this common with these ??

Is there a possibility of a bad wiring connection somewhere, or something similar ?? I tend to doubt it, since radio and tape player work fine.

Thanks........hope someone has an answer. Lars

The cheapest and easiest way is to purchase a cassette adapter. It will not play stereo music. Best would be aftermarket stereo with Bluetooth and USB input. None of my vehicles have CD's. Everything is Blandford USB input. I use Nano USB. It only sticks out 1/4". If the nano USB is lost, broke or stolen I'm out $10.
