Slammed Breaks, heard thump/spring sound???

Hey peeps,

Today some idiot did a U-Turn after making a left turn which resulted in making me slam my brakes. When I slammed the brakes and came to a stop I heard a loud thump/spring sound under my car. It sounded like the brush guard but I felt it go through the brake pedal.

This has only happened twice and both occasions involved slamming my brakes at a sudden stop.

Anything to look for or where to start? It was just really weird to feel on the brake pedal.
