SLC Utah Mechanic and 60k miles service questions

I have a 2008 LTD (V6) which has 54k miles, so I'm nearing the 60k service (did my 30k service at like 25k, as it was before doing a long driving trip).
I've used full synthetic 5W30 changing every 18 months or so (about every 7-8k miles I might guess, over the last five years).

I've used a local dealership for oil changes, as they have coupons and do a full synthetic for under $70. They want to charge me $340 or so to do a 60k which includes front/rear differential and transfer case service and 6 plugs replacement.


1. Is $340 (about $140 for plugs, $60 each for three differential/transfer services, inclusive of all labor/parts) a fair price for that service (with my other car, a Porsche, I would never use a dealer for any service, I only use a local one-off type small shot mechanic)?

2. If $340 isn't a good price (I typically find dealers service pricing a rip-off), can anyone recommend a good SLC (or Park City) Toyota expert... or the best resource for researching/finding one?

3. Is there any other service items you would recommend I include at (near) 60k?

I used to own a 2003 v8 limited and now jumped to a 2006 sr5 v8. I do all the work myself using amsoil. I just ordered 7 courts of 75w-90 gear oil for $85.00 and 7 courts of 5w-30 signature for 60.00. I plan on doing it all myself and so I'm in it about $145.00 along with the denso plugs at 9 a piece so 72.00.

I'm using a good product and it's costing me $217.00 with some of the best you can get. v.s. what you'll get.

most places charge $90.00 an hour for labor.

I'm a DIYer so this all sounds overpriced, but ....

1) The V6 uses copper plugs rated for 30k miles. Copper plugs are dirt cheap. It's not all that hard to DIY on this truck. I would recommend/challenge you to grab a wrench and spark plug socket and just do it yourself.

IIRC, it's about 7qts to service the drive line. Valvoline gear oil is $6-10 depending if you want conventional or syn. Mobil 1 gear oil is about $11.00 in my area. Or go the way of the generics or the fancy stuff.

2) I would befriend someone in the forum, grab the parts and a case of their drink of choice and you'd still be saving about $200.00.

Any local shop would certainly be cheaper than your local dealer. Your sig says UT mountains. I'd look into 4x4 shops also.

3) I'd also look into your power steering fluid, brake fluid, and do a drain/fill of ATF.
