sleep in the back?

Did some searching and couldn't seem to find this.

How much room is there to sleep in the back of a 4th gen? I'm 6'1" and I have a '98 SR5 (3rd gen). With the back seats down there's enough room to sleep alright, even better if I take out the seat bottoms and gain the extra 8 inches or so.
I'm wondering how the size differs in a 4th gen. I sleep in the back of mine a lot for camping, etc., and have been thinking of upgrading to a newer model. Can anyone give me the measurements of the cargo area floor with the seats folded down? Especially the amount of room between the wheel wells which is the most useable for sleeping.

Also, any pics of your sleeping setups would be awesome

I was just using my '07 two weeks ago for camping on the NC Outer Banks. Coleman makes an air mattress to fit in the back of an SUV - fits perfectly between the rear wheel wells (which I measured as 41.5 inches).

I'm just over 6 foot and removed the bottom of the rear seat on one side to give me the extra length I needed to stretch out.

Also I had made up some screens for the windows using window screen, magnets and silicone sealant. They worked great at keeping the mosquitoes out. I found those flexible magnets that have adhesive on one side were not strong enough.

Only problem is how to kill the damn daytime running lights that come on anytime the engine is running! There's always one more project.

i slept in the back of my 3rd gen many times...one time was on the side of a freeway in Utah with my car loaded down and a dog. i had zero room issues (im a bit shorter though 5'9")

4th gen i havent slept in yet but it seems a tad bit shorter? my snowboard with snowboard bag (161cm board bag) was barely in there when in my 3rd gen if i remember right it fit easily.

id go to the dealership if you are looking and just crawl in the back of one. check it out. i know i could fit but im not as tall

That's a good idea. Go just before closing and tell them you want to take a short test drive for the night. Pull it around back in a dark corner and tell them to bring the hot coffee in the morning!

the brake has to be set before you turn the car on...if the e-brake is set before the car is set to on the DRL's do not turn on...as soon as that ebrake drops then they come on.

putting the e-brake on while the car is on will not turn the lights off

There are just all sorts of things hidden on the 4runners! Can anyone tell me how to activate the autopilot system?

But really ... I'd still like a kill switch for those running lights.

I removed the lower part of the back seat to get a bit more room. Not a big deal cause I run it as a flat bed all the time. Here is a pix with the front seat pushed all the way back. I car camp when out on the dirt bikes.

Drink enough beer and you won't care where you sleep. I am 5'10'' or so and I can fit in the back of mine with the tail gate down and seats all the way forward. I'm a short p.o.s. so my advice doesn't help with your problem, but the first few words I said may help

Probably have that same coleman inflatable mattress. I am 5'10 and without removing a flipped up squab, if fit snugly lieing straight front to back. I would think 6ft or over would need to remove the squab.

On a recent NY-Denver-NY trip with my husband We alternate drove/slept in it. (26 hours one way) He is 6' tall. He took the second row seat bottoms out to gain that few inches more. He slept fine in it, just used regular camping mattress, pilow and a blanket..

Im 5' 11" and slept in the back of my 03 with a sleeping bag and pad. It was not that great. I guess i could have taken the seat pads out.
