slider material

I have some 2 x 1.5 x ⅛" rectangular tubing I was thinking of using for some sliders. I know most use .120 wall round tube but I'm sure rectangular tubing is weaker to a point so I have to ask. Think my scrap tubing will be strong enough for the step/deflecting part of the slider?

I would of course be turning the tubing up on its 1.5" side.

Trying to make good use of materials I already paid for.

As an engineering student, I will tell you that round is the strongest shape unless you know which direction the impact force will be coming. A 2x3 rect. tube vs a 2" round with equal wall thickness that are only impacted vertically (if you stand the 2x3 section upright), the rectangular section will be stronger. Now that same section impacted from the side instead would be weaker than the round section.
Now, after I just said all that, the tubing you have is more than strong enough. Use what you have.
