sliders and toddlers, compatible?

I was wondering if other parents can shed light on this for me. I am thinking about getting some sliders for the runner. I do have one concern though. I have a soon to be 4 yo who likes to get into the truck "all by herself" (as I am sure other parents can attest to). Anyway, she obviously uses the side steps for a boost. Would sliders make the task much more difficult? I just keep having thought of her feet slipping off and/or getting caught somehow.

Thanks

Maybe a this arb slider will work better for you.

Arb Slider/Step

It's the one I am considering also since my wife uses the step also to get into my T4R.

Yea, I would have to agree... Sliders and toddlers are not that compatible. You really need some sort of step on top to prevent little feet (and heels) from slipping between the bar and the body of the vehicle.

Get the ARB slider as linked to above:

Or you can do what i did...put a plate (found at Home Depot) over the gap:

Thanks for the replies

I appreciate your input to my question. I think the ARB rec may be the option I choose.

Thanks folks

I have the Hanna Sliders and a 3 year old. She uses them on the way out, but not the way in. The powdercoat I had applied to the Hannas is rough and provides good grip. She doesn't use them for climbing in because my 4Runner is too tall. ;):

Maybe I am missing something here. In case no one knows, even though the ARB catalog shows a 4th gen 4Runner with the ARB side steps, as in the photo in the earlier thread here, ARB recently informed me that this was a one time deal as a special order from Toyota Motor Sales for a promotional tour at SEMA and the Rubicon for the 4Runner. They plan to add a caption to that catalog photo explaining this and therefore ARB side steps specifically for the 4R are not available, at least not as of yet.

They did go on to say that the side step for the Landcruiser 100 can be modified to fit on a 4Runner. I am in the process of checking with the shop that setup ARB side steps for the Toyota Motor Sales 4R and will advise further as soon as I learn any more about it.

I have the Hanna slider and a Cornfed 3"/2" lift. My 3 1/2 year old gets in and out of the vehicle by herself without any problems. sometimes when it is wet she has some problems. I would not worry about it.

I've got the Shrockworks sliders, and I made ovals out of that black skid tape to put on them. That seemed to work very well for my 7 and 9 year old.
