Sliders that are also Steps???

I really like the metal tube steps that came with my vehicle, but I've been told the metal is thin and won't stand up to punishment (it's take some so far and has gouges to show)... so I should get some sliders.

BUT, I am *constantly* loading and unloading the roof (skis in the winter, kayaks in the summer) so I *need* steps. Anyone make slider steps that are easy to stand on even with the door closed?

I heard TJM made something like this, but that they are out of the US market.

Use your own step tubes as a guide for how far you'd like the sliders to extend. You might want to look for square tubing if a step is a big priority. The choices will be greater with tubes, I expect, so the following might be useful.

I use my sliders (not made anymore and wouldn't fit your truck) as a step all the time. I can even sit on them (barely) to put on boots. The far edge extends from the truck almost a full 4 inches. The tubes are huge though, so probably a more relevant measurement is the middle of the tube at the highest point. That extends out exactly 3 inches. They work great as a step but seem to me to be near the minimum of extension I would want for that purpose. They wouldn't have to go very far towards the body before it would significantly compromise their use as a step the way I use them.

I made this comparison pic a while back of my sliders versus the fit of Shrockworks sliders. There is a little error due to camera angles but it's pretty close. Shrockworks certainly appear to be useful as a step, but if you're really going to be using sliders a lot for that purpose and standing on them for more than a few seconds, you might want to get something that sticks out a little farther.

5" to the bar center and 3" tubes... and that's about my minimum...

So far it looks like the Demello Rockcrushers... 4" and 2" diameter... still losing 1.5"...

Shockworks will NOT be good when trying to stand on the bars in ski boots or trying to lift 50lbs of kayak.

I've emailed Stubbs and Allpro... I also asked Armorology about a custom...

I use and more importantly my kids use the All-Pro ones as steps to get in and out of the truck. I also have a roof basket that I have stood on the steps to load up with firewood and other things at various times.
 
Hanna Quality and All Pro say they don't do sliders for Gen 4+

Definitely leaning towards the Demello... though if I can't figure out how to get an ARB or something on the front end, why should I bother?

Heres what I did, got the Stubbs slidders, then I went to a surplus store and got some steel to plate the top. Works awesome as a step, and also protects the rockers from rocks and dirt..

I dig the All-Pro sliders. Had a set on my Ranger - yes about 8 years ago they sold a "universal kit" that you could put on any rig. The sides were complete but the tube that goes from the slider to the frame came un attached so you could mod how far they stuck out and what angle you wanted your slider.

Wish they still sold em? Nothing specific for 4th gen but wonder if you could adapt any to fit? Wonder what length would work best?
